Picked up my 98 Tourer at Bob's place in Tulsa on Sunday evening.  Headed out Monday at first light and rode exactly 500 miles thru some beautiful Arkansas and Missouri country.  Bob did his normal performance upgrade along with a few maintenance items and now had a brand new 20 year old rocket ship.  I needed to accelerate quickly to pass a truck, downshifted to 4 and twisted the grip.  Man, what a sound.  Reminded me of the old 4 barrel carbs on a muscle car.  Wound up to about 6000 rpm in an instant and I was FLYING!  What a feeling.

Got back to Cincinnati on Tuesday with 919 miles on the "new" engine.

I had met Bob at Roanoke Inzane and was impressed with his knowledge about our Valk's.  After reading the numerous glowing reports on this board, decided to take the plunge.

I did not want to be without the bike during riding season, so I arranged for him to have the bike for his March project.  Ron (Rams) and Jerry (Big Wolf) trailered to him in mid Feb and he started on the bike the first day of March.  I received constant texts or emails from him with progress along with numerous photos.  He found a few other issues that he fixed--oftentimes as part of his normal service. Then he cleaned the entire bike.  Ron and Jerry had apparently encountered snow and sloppy roads on the way to Tulsa.  Would never know after Bob was done with the bike.

While the bike was there I had him install new grips and brake/clutch adjustable levers.  Love 'em.

So, you can mark me down a one super satisfied, yes gleeful, customer.  I know its a pain to be without your bike but trust me the pain is well worth it.

Thanks, Attic Rat.

We should have a group picture of the Ratted bikes at Inzane!

Congratulations on the performance upgrade and safe riding.

How many miles are on your valk?

I want to sign up for AtticRat's services but I feel like I should wait until my Valk is maybe a little older?

I'm at 20k miles  angel

Mine has 50k +  Whether 50k 20K or 120K  mileage is not a worry with our bikes.

If the funds are available I would call and set up an appt,  Hope he keeps this going for several more years!  I think he's booked through November.

What a great experience.

I have 38,000 now.  After Bob's magic, I am sure mine will go for another 20 years.  His service includes more than just performance.  He rebuilt the thermostat, petcock, added O rings to water pipes.  Extra service/cost he changed out my shifter seal, changed hydaulic fluid, rebuilt forks, serviced the final drive, fixed a small nuisance coolant leak, added new grips and levers.  He essentially went over the entire machine and let me know what needed attendtion.  I chose to have him do it, although I could have done some of the work.  Ready for anything now.  I couldn't be happier.

I'll chime in here instead of starting a new thread, but dropped off my bike with Bob last fall along with a buddies bike. His was worked on in Sept and mine in Nov. I was only able to get mine back a few weeks ago. Until yesterday, though, we had way too much snow and muddy roads to get it out.

As has been stated here and in other places, the work done to my bike was excellent, not a detail was overlooked. The basic 'rat-ification' was done as well as several extra necessities. Great care and concern for each bike Bob works on is absolutely apparent.

As far as improvements go and as far as I'm concerned, this is how the Valkyrie should have been set up from the factory. Honestly, I've always felt that 1500cc's, six carbs, and six cylinders should produce more power. Now it does. It's no superbike, but I know I can ride all day long at any speed I feel comfortable and still be ready to ride the next day. What I really love is the way it will pull after each upshift, never feeling like the rpm's need to catch up to the sweet spot.

I highly recommend the Attic Rat, good guy, great work.

By the way, my bike had 77k miles when I dropped it off with Bob, and has never run better.

Was just talking about Bob’s performance upgrade yesterday while wrenching on a friends new trike. Mine’s going to him in June for a July appointment. Can’t wait. Bought a new IS for travel during her absence. I am very excited!

Sure wish I could afford to have mine worked on. Maybe in the future I can invest, have him do it during the summer since that's not really good riding weather around here. I've actually tossed around the idea of getting a spare motor and doing something similar to it myself then do the swap and sell the former motor. Nothing wrong with it, just wouldn't need two motors. In the end, I'd prefer to have him work my bike over rather do it myself.

Yes, Bob is the Master Guru of Valkyrie’s.  I shipping mine to him exactly 6 weeks from today.
I’ve done almost everything that needed attention in the last two years I’ve owned it but I’m looking forward to his GLH improvements.
I do not let ANYONE work on my bike, Ever. I even change my own tires. That alone speaks volumes on how much I trust him.  I’ve had the carb banks off many times experimenting with jet sizes.
I’ve even installed a dual Nitrous system on it but have not even tested it yet. I’m waiting to get some advice from Bob first to make sure I don’t damage anything...
I bought a plane ticket from Nashville to Tulsa on June 1st and riding it it back home. I can’t wait!  Blessings, Brian

Hi Greg,

I sent a PM a few days ago re: you Attic Rat experience. I'm trying to figure out if it's something I can swing. Of course, the main issue is funding.

Could you tell me what he gets for his services? I'm going to call him in a couple of weeks and would like to have some idea before I do...

Thanks,

Bob

I may look into booking an appointment with him when he slows down a bit - - like maybe in the summer of 2038!

Hey guys: I looked through my PM’s and never saw one from you Bob? Maybe an email you sent that I missed, or who knows, maybe I responded and forgot already. Anyway, it’s really best if you contact Bob Smith for a quote. He doesn’t mind, and he’ll outline all that’s included. It’s over $2K, but not by much. Worry not, you’ll get your money’s worth. I have a write-up on when I picked mine up just for your reading pleasure. Sorry I missed this post. My write-up is here: http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,107842.0.html
