You know, I believe in innocent until proven guilty. So, that being said you might think I would agree with the “alleged” statement above. Wrong! If there’s no witnesses, and the evidence doesn’t seem to be 100%, then and only then are you an “alleged suspect”. When you’ve got over a dozen people watching you, and it’s most likely on video tape, you’re pretty well guilty!

Oh, it was him. And I thought the same thing Carl. Even the day of the shooting they were saying alleged. A neighbor was among the group he was firing at. Don't know for sure if he saw him, just know he was in very close proximity. His wife was very relieved when he called and said he was ok.

And the "alleged" doesn't even do the job it is supposed to do. In this case, there is little question of guilt or innocence... caught red handed, as it were. So, "alleged" is a farce, or worse, insulting.
Then, there is the case of the 3 lacrosse players that were arrested for rape yesterday. This case is full of questions. The woman admits to having consensual sex with one of them. There was alcohol. There are many questions. Yet, there names were splashed across the papers, with the words "alleged" rapists. Did "alleged" do these men any good? No, they weren't 'protected' as in innocent until guilty... they are rapists every bit as much Hasan is a killer in the public eye. Sensationalism overrides any protection the word was intended to offer. What to do? Nothing, I reckon... it's like the neighbor's barking dog... an annoyance but no lasting damage.

"PC" gone frigg'n wild! Plain and simple. Just like the Navy Seals up on charges because the major terrorist-killer-murderer they captured recently ended up with a "fat lip". The SEALS do what they do . . . and get strung up for it? PC bullshit! Plain and simple. Yrmv,

It is more than a little annoying to have to tolerate all the PC crap....
I had mentioned before that Philly has experienced a number of officers killed in the line of duty over the last 2 years. One "alleged suspect" (out of prison after repeated offenses) was shot a few times after he executed an officer and wounded his partner who answered the call about a simple dispute between a cab driver and this POS. When captured, the interview with the chief of police started with the same dumb questions. But from that, the quote I liked the best.... Question: "Chief, how many times was the 'alleged suspect' shot?" Answer: "NOT ENOUGH"

It may be taken to an extreme... and it is supposed to protect YOU... the citizen... innocent until proven guilty... the paper or TV station can't sensationalize your arrest and call you a murderer or rapist or thief or child pornographer straight up because you may not have been even formally indicted, never mind found guilty. So, let me ask you, would you rather that citizens who deserve this protection (shitty as it is) be denied it because it is 'PC'... or would you rather see that occasional guilty asshole have 'alleged' stuck next to his name?

Maybe or lawyer brother, Oss, knows why this is. I believe a trial as a terrorist is done under different rules than a trial as a soldier or a trial as a citizen. It is likely an attempt by the legal beagles to reach a certain outcome that the terrorist trial may not get.

I thought it was 70 virgins? And after a week or so, none of them would be virgins so, why kill other people for that? Having one wife is enough, why would someone want 70 of ‘em?
My wife was a virgin, talk about having to teach her everything in the bedroom! That sucked! I liked the infidel girls I dated in college! They knew what they were doing!

Achmed Habib Siede Bin Deaden, the murdering traitor/terrorist made his way to the pearly gates. There, he is greeted by George Washington. "How dare you attack the nation I helped conceive!" yells Mr. Washington, slapping Achmed in the face. Patrick Henry comes up from behind. "You wanted to end the Americans' liberty, so they gave you death!" Henry punches him on the nose. James Madison comes up next, and says "This is why I allowed the Federal government to provide for the common defense!" He drops a large weight on the murder's knee. Achmed is subject to similar beatings from John Randolph of Roanoke, James Monroe, and 65 other people who have the same love for liberty and America. As he writhes on the ground, Thomas Jefferson picks him up to hurl him back toward the gate where he is to be judged. As he awaits his journey to his final very hot destination, he screams "This is not what I was promised!" An angel replies "I told you there would be 72 Virginians waiting for you, idiot. What did you think I said?"

'Alleged' This topic has been abused, some have gone to jail and some have been Fined, But your right We All deserve Due Process even The American People, Its sad that without Due Process It seems we are All guilty of Man Made Global Warming, and without a court date we just sit and wait for our 'Fine' ? They don't want the alleged gunman labeled as a terrorist because the alleged administration would have the first alleged terrorist attack on American soil since 9/11 on their alleged watch.

Roadkill that was really funny 72 Virginians
Sorry Charlie, but I do believe that opinions, like noses and as sholes are so many (as it should be) that there is no CORRECT answer for all situations.
If we are taling about Ft Hood, the facts are the shooter is not dead (yet) some victims and the woman who shot him are alive. If he were to be tried in a criminal or military court he will never see the light of freedom again. I am more concerned with the 9-11 bomber trials. I do not see where these people are entitled to a trial as a constitutional matter, In 1776 they would simply have been hung after a reading of charges as Major Andre was.
Personally, I believe since Ft Hood executions of innocents took place on a military base he should be interrogated (torture? I dont see no torture) until his brain is mush and he dies and then let him stand trial if he still wants to.
My professors would say a speedy trial and speedy sentencing and speedy carrying out of the sentence. How many grams is a 9mm bullet?
This is why I do not practice criminal law my friend.
I would also like to see the President instruct the military not to prosecute navy seals for giving a fat lip to an alleged terrorist either and also border guards for that matter should not be barred from using deadly force to keep people out.

Pease please dont stop keep talking cant tell you how many people are watching this and are not even members LOL!!!!! Perhaps you should take your complaints about reactions to the economic meltdown back to where they belong, with the Bush administration. As for global climate change, consider the nutty theories that assume the entire scientific community around the world is engaged in some sort of massive conspiracy. As for a health care "crisis," the fact that virtually every dollar of wage increases in the last decade have been eaten up by health care insurance costs; that the US has 50 million uninsured citizens; and that the US spends 50% more on health care than any other nation and gets worse outcomes may not be a "crisis," but it certainly doesn't qualify as good public policy. So perhaps you should take your complaint about that to Mark McClellan, Bush's Medicare and Medicaid "czar," who believes the current Senate bill is a major step in the right direction. As for being "taken seriously" on this forum, I'd be amazed if that were true. Fortunately, thank God, the typical Valkyrie rider isn't running the country anymore.

fstsix I read a book recently that your boeing post brought back to me Its called THE ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC and it was on the shelves of recent books at my public library. Takes place in the pacific northwest. I recommend it heartily as it will make you think about what is important, both during the book and after reading the whole thing. I wont say if I condone or agree with any of the positions taken by protagonists just that it was thought provoking, Once I quickly realized that each character was speaking in the 1st person in the different chapters, which is an unusual form in a novel I went thru it in one day. Most of those on this board are old enough that they probably read once in a while, unlike my kids who only like video

I don't know. I think we would be better off. But then again why would we want someone who is not politically correct ,have morals, live by the constitution, and not influenced by 'special groups'. I trust a leather clad, whiskey drinking, gun toting, tattooed biker before I'd trust ANY politician.
