I've had a new and a used. My current one I bought used,
so that's how I voted. If you have multiple Valks, you can
send me one of them and then vote however you want. Cheesy

Bought mine in New Mexico on the way back from California in May 2001. My 84 Goldwing broke down, needed serious repair, they didn't have the parts and the Valk I/S was on the showroom floor ... 3hrs later I was headed back to Chicago on the Valk. cooldude

Considering I bought mine in June 2007, I didn't have a whole lot of choice.

Bought my 98 in 2000 in Sturgis S.D. ! Last time that friggin Hardley was gonna break down and ruin my day! Sturgis BMW,Kawasali,Suzuki was the dealership I think...the only one in Sturgis that sells motorcycles. I was lookin for a V-max after the Rapid City HD dealer pissed me off but I'm glad I couldnt find one. Rode the Valk and couldnt get out the check book fast enough ! Been livin the dream ever since... cooldude

My '99 - NEW!  Last couple years have been low mileage due to real life getting in the way.  Hope to make up the loss of wind therapy in the next couple years.  Still gets all the attention where ever we go.  Ymmv,

Mine was FREE and NEW still in the box....... Assuming the Hardley was not worth anything.

Was in the hospital for bypass surgery April fool's day, 1997, was in CCU, (1 step below ICU), due to screw ups by the Dr. and bored to death.  Only thing I could move was my eyeballs, and my filthy mouth.   Wife and kids got pissed and left.  Mom came back.

Mom brought in a bike magazine and was reading it to me.  Was an article on the Valk, sounded GOOD.   The Honda dealer and I have been friends so to speak for years.   He stopped by to say howdy and had a Valk Brochure.     Wife read it to me & George said I have a Green/Creme in a Tourer model ready to take out of the box.

Asked him how he would trade for my Harley Bagger.     Told me to bring it by and he's work up a deal.

Son took it by the next day and he worked up a out the door no $$$ deal with an additional 3 year warranty attached.  So MGM went out the door as soon as I got released.     Got a bunch of miles added to the clock in the next 90 days.    This is the 1st year of riding that not too many miles have been added.  Setting on 242K+change.   Should be reading 252K + this time next year.

Mine is a 1999 that I bought used in 2001.  The original owner had bought it new in March of 2001 as a leftover...then decided he didn't like it (too big uglystupid2)...and put it up for sale in June or July with just 391 miles on it for $9000.  So, I am the 2nd owner...but I bought it "practically" new.  How does that count?

Hi All Got my first  Valk in Nov 99.I saw this new bike I Toronto and told my wife Sue,that this was this perfect bike. She said "Buy It" , it will be your birthday present.A great bike and wife.

A couple of years ago,we were looking for a new leather jacket for Sue.something warm because I like late fall riding. At one dealership ,they had a 99 I/S and she asked to sit on it.She really liked the support of the backrest and asked if the bike was OK. I looked it over and said fine. She said "Merry Christmas" and I picked the bike up next morning.

A couple of months ago ,I went into our new Honda "Powerhouse" to bitch about the lack of demo days and my wanting to try out a new Wing. They said they just got in an 01 I/S. Took a look at it and I knew the bike. A guy in the neighbourhood put it there on consignment. I mentioned it to Sue that night and she looked at me and said "Go for it" Bought it next day.

I am blessed with a wife that enjoys the joys of motorcycles, puts up with me and lets me keep my toys. 30 years married and still very good.

I bought my Valk new in August 1996, traded my ST1100 in for it.  I never took a test ride, just ordered it.
I rode it for 13 years, the longest that I've owned any bike.

Now it is in the capable hands of Li'l D.  I sure miss it but my knees couldn't handle the weight any more.

We purchased our '99 Standard used and we are the 3rd owner.  We would dearly love to have a new one.  Alas, it seems that Honda does not intend to ever facilitate that wish...

I got mine used, but it was almost new...  '97 Standard, purchased from my brother (long story) in '99 with 2300 miles on her.

Now almost 70,000 miles, and still kickin' butt  Wink

Not bad, for the reduced Wisconsin riding season.

I've bought two a '98' blue and cream which I sold after I bought the '97' yellow and black. Both bikes I bought used and I was the second owner for both. Kendal now has my blue and cream.

Bought my 99 Interstate used in 06. Been crashed, dropped on both sides, scraped mangled and abused. Still had the damage from parking lot drops. I am the third owner. It had 8606 miles on it when I got it now has 27000 after 3 years the damage no longer shows. This bike has quite a story and is now home for the long run. I treat it a little better than the previous owners and will ride until God takes it from me. Someday I'll figure out photostash and post a few pics Shocked

Got mine used and abused 2 months ago. Still stripping it down for re-plating and polishing (see link below for the story so far), I hope to have it away to the platers in the next 2 weeks or so. I was out with a friend who was looking for a new bike a few months ago. At the dealers there was a 1998 Valkyrie in black with 25000 km's on it from Canada priced at 10,000€ (14,500$), I sat on it and fell in love, it was so comfortable after my Shadow VT750DC which I find too small to ride comfortably for more than 80 miles at a go. He wouldn't do a sensible deal on a PX for my Shadow so I walked away. This was the first time that I had seen a Valk up close let alone sat on one and I then understood why everyone who has one is so in love with it.

I have been looking for a Valk at the right price since then. When I was in the UK I found my Bumblebee that had been uncared for only 2 owners from new in 1996. I made a stupidly low offer for it which was accepted, subject to a test ride. I showed it to my wife who agreed that it was a bargain at the price I had bid and so after a 20 mile test ride it was mine. Now 2 months later it is in Spain partially stripped and I am hoping that my Christmas present this year will be a ride on my Valk but realistically i suspect it will be a new year present. There aren't that many of them here in Spain.

Mine is a 1999 Black and Silver Standard. I bought it used from my best bud Steve (Old Skool ) Lucas. Steve had totaled his ZX12 Kawasaki (he hit some gravel in the road and slid into the oncoming traffics path and head on into a car ). He was in the hospital recovering from injuries ( broken collar bone, several ribs and lost his spleen ). He asked Rhonda if she was mad and she said no, his next question was " new bike?". Well, she put her foot down and they compromised on no more sportbikes. He bought the Valk from his hospital bed, sight unseen. When he was released from the hospital, instead of going home Rhonda had to take him to the bike shop to see his new Valk. It was used but only had a few hundred miles, previous owner had decided it was too much bike. I bought it from him a few years later as he had a 1979 CBX and had talked Rhonda into another Sportbike. Later he got a 1999 Red and Black I/S. This was the bike on which he had his fatal accident. I miss my bud very much and will always keep his Valk as a reminder of our thousands of miles riden together and our friendship.......

I bought this 1998 standard new in a crate in February 2001. Paid $9500 for it and got $500 Honda Custom bucks in the deal.

It's been 90K miles and lots of smiles and little bit of bling since then.

Wow, interesting poll results so far. New-to-used-comparison says a lot about a marvelous machine.

Bought my new '97 Tourer in Dec. of '98 and took delivery March 1st, '99 [Chicago winters]. I had put a $4k deposit on an HD before I stumbled onto the Valkyrie. It took HD Corporate almost 3 months to return my deposit. That was without telling them I bought a Honda instead. What Jerks!!!

Somehow it slowly morphed into an Interstate of sorts.

Bought mine new in 2002 when it became obvious that there would shortly be no more. The VTX 1800 had come out and was all the rage. The Gold Wing 1800 meant there would shortly be no more 1500 cc engines to power the Valk. Before they disappeared, I wanted to have one in the garage as a long term keeper.

( 3 ) Valkyrie's all used...

Got my 1998 Standard Yellow / Cream in June 1998 with 326 on the clock. Started adding the things I needed mainly chrome  Wink
1999 saddlebags ...2001 Interstate trunk....Hoppe fairing made for the Valkyrie.

I bought this one 1999 Standard totaled with no idea I'd be able to repair it I love this bike but it does have a re-built title and I have enough $$$$ in it that I could have just bought one ready to ride with a good title.

This is the only one I would even think about selling 1999 Interstate and it's the lowest mileage Valk I own. I've spent and bundle on added bling and as the fat girl get's older if you want the Hondaline accessories better get'em while the gettin' is still good.

But you can still buy them from Viper and it is the nicest one I've seen.  http://viper-creations.com/
