I need a new front 150/80R17 for my 2001 standard. Looks like it's getting hard to find Cobras anymore, although I may be able to? Has anyone been running the Avon Chrome tire and if so, your observations and reviews would be helpful.

Sorry can't comment on the tire, but holy cow they are proud of it!

I imagine they are cheaper elsewhere?

I haven't heard anything about the chrome but rocky mountain was the cheapest place I could find for a cobra

The Cobra is discontinued, Cobra Chrome is Avon's replacement. Got 400 miles on a newly installed front one. Have had it on the Interstates, Mountain Twisties, and rain. Excellent grip and smooth as silk. It's as good or better than the old Cobra. You won't regret it.

Thanks for the update, exactly what I was looking for! Looks like I'll be ordering a new Chrome tire (Besides who can't not be digging on the name Chrome?) . Always have had good results with Avons.

What happened to the snake theme?  Years ago they made the Venom for Valkyries, then replaced it with the Cobra.  Now the Chrome?

I've got one i just installed, about 200 miles so far. I am very happy with it. I did have a cobra on it, and it seems to be very similiar.

Yeah they have.

My last ME880 150 radial front was also right at $200.  (up about $30+)

I just got a set of Bridgestones (Excedras) this time 'cause the local shop had them in stock, and I noticed a lot of black marks on the driveway, just from pulling the bike out of the garage and a little manuevering it...!   I never had a mark from my usual Avons.   I hope they last like the Avons, but I'm figuring probably not.
