I noticed that the electronic voltage meter (single led that changes color according to voltage) on my bike was showing red under all conditions and went straight home and checked my charging system. I found the charging system working correctly and the voltage meter knocked out. I had connected the AFC 121 fuel valve on the same line that powers the voltage meter during installation and that had caused the problem. I am aware of back EMF, (the voltage induced when a magnetic field collapses) but had not taken it into account when I installed the fuel valve. Luckily the suppression of this pulse is straight forward and can be handled with a diode or MOV on our bikes.

The most expensive things you will purchase, are those things you would not have needed if you had listened and obeyed.
