An H4 will fit you have to bend two of the tabs over for it to work. If you dont want to go that route go to mother honda and get an oem. I put silver star ultra in mine like them alot.

Except you really don't need the adapter rings.  The bulbs seem loose, but they stay put without them fine.
(and I never had to reaim them)

H4 55/60 (2003s)

Hella makes good bulbs.

Don't touch new ones with bare fingers (nitrile gloves are good).

Getting them in can be tricky.  You can look, or work, but you can't look and work at the same time.  The best technique I've seen is to sit in a lawn chair in front of the fairing, and reach around and under to poke them in; you can watch them go in through the clear headlight cover.

Jess that link shows cutting the two ears off. What I did was take a pair of needed nosed pliers and bend them over. And when I put them in the were snug no need for any kind of adapter. Plus you have the spring coip that keeps them in place.

The fairing on the I/S is held on by 4 bolts. Look inside fairing you'll see them. Top part of the bracket is slotted. Loosen all 4 bolts. Tilt fairing forward. Retighten lower bolts. That extra inch or means I can even git my old arthritic paws in there to change the bulbs. Easy peasy with the fairing rolled forward. RIDE SAFE. P S-The speaker pods have to be removed.

Dennis very doubtful your paws are larger than mine and I can change them without the tilt forward. And the speaker pods stay in place coolsmiley

without the adapter rings the bulbs sit at a funny angle which slightly alters the beam pattern.  not much but a little.  I use the adapter rings and have no issues.

I have replaced several bulbs over the last 10 years (wow have owned my Valk for over 10 years).  Found that removing the speaker panel works for me.  Easy to remove the spring and replace the bulb.  But getting the spring back on sometimes takes several tries (and some bad words).  And yes BigHead I too have big hands.

Also found that the H bulbs with ears removed had change the angle of the light.  Had to change the angle of the light to make them shine in the correct direction.  Pretty easy, once figured out which direction to turn the crank.

Just so you know, the Honda bulb is 45/45.  As opposed to the H4 55/60.

Never had any funny angle with tabs bent over. Never used an adapter and no problems. Just sayin they work and in my experience O problems. Amd much brighter than OEM.

That is interesting.  The Honda bulb I bought was a very expensive 45W/45W unit.  It's also used on some other Hondas like the 1500 Wing.  Maybe some entrepreneur decided to modify an H4/9004 and sell it to dealers?

If it didnt fit and was only $9 it wasnt a Honda bulb. And remember you get what you pay for.
