My understanding is the OP didn't start a political thread.  He was merely pointing out en educated woman who must have lived a very sheltered life as to not have ever seen, or heard of, a garbage disposal.

exactly.  many news reports on her.   like how did she graduate a 4 yr college with a financial degree and the only job she could get in the financial capital of the world was a bar tender job.  And is always stating very stupid things. she lied about where she grew up, and that she grew up poor. she did not. her father had a very good job and she lived in a nicer neighborhood.  too me she is just a puppet for others or worst.

In answer to the original question.... she got elected because she had a D after her name.

Just like many R's get elected because they have an R after their names.

It's not rocket science.  It's not science at all.

Dead people have been elected in just this way.  (remember that in many cases, the election of a dead person results in an appointment of another individual of the same party, at least until a new election)

http://mentalfloss.com/article/26281/4-dead-politicians-who-still-got-elected

I would vote for a dead R over (almost) any live D.  And I'm sure some would go the other way.

My local Gov district can't get an R elected.  The R party doesn't even try (or fund) anymore, so the Rs we get are young and self funded.  I vote for them.  When no R appears on the ballot at all, I write in The Easter Bunny (several times now).

You might think me close minded or callous, but I'm not.  I do my homework, and I'm certain The Easter Bunny would represent me better than the D.

(There's a bunch of really disturbing Easter Bunny memes, so I didn't post one)

Technically it is political science. You can get a degree in it. I believe it is on the other side of the science spectrum from rocket science.

Funny you mention it, I had a Poly Sci major (econ and lit minors) (headed to law school).

I agree it's stretching the truth to call it science, but I'm still glad I got a BS and not a BA.   Grin

If she was really ignorant on garbage disposals and not trying to push the "poor me" bit, she probably never was in her kitchen growing up.  The Up Scale neighborhood home she grew up in probably had a maid to do the cooking and cleaning.  So she never knew about a disposal.   2funny 2funny

I've tried to stay out of the politics, I'm restraining myself as best I can, but since the question was asked, I'll answer it, where she came from, who backed her, who the brains behind her are, etc... If you're truly interested, here ya' go:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1h5iv6sECGU

And part II:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-3_FGyhg4k

And now I'll go back to just posting snarky memes and staying out of politics as best I can.

Political Science and Social Science, they were mandatory at the school [ NYS] I went to.  I almost didn't make it thru and kept me off Deans list because of those damn classes. Neither made any sense to me and I couldn't get thru them no matter how I studied.  Now I  understand why !

It appears the Political Science degree is offered in both BA and BS.  Wouldn't a Political Science BS be both redundant and repititious?

He's neither my lord nor savior, but he is the best president for my country in a very long time.

Because he is so good for my country, I forgive him his vanity, pride, brashness, noisy tweets/texts, and mistakes.  How good were you the first two years you did something new?

I don't worship him, but I like him and wish him good luck and godspeed.

Well said Jess. But it's going to fall on deaf ears for a few here. Their pure unadulterated hatred for this president and everything he stands for is unprecedented.

That's OK.  I don't hate those guys.  But I do hate the extreme left as much as they hate us conservatives, and our (actually) moderate president.  So I guess that's fair.

I don't think it's unprecedented.  History shows many big brawls politically, going way back in time.  It's just this new media/internet/tweeting/yada thing makes it louder and more belligerent than ever before.

This time...as we speak is nothing short of extraordinary...let me be more explicit

Extra Ordinary, to say the least.

I have watched the last 3 years with absolute dumbfounded amazement.

There has been no individual such as Trump in my 70 years who has been more adept at  ripping a hole in the painful Liberal BS we all must tolerate....carry on Donald...they deserve it.

The meme was directed at our agnostic friend, whom I quoted. (Willow, please note the whom) but I would not presume to keep anyone from commenting.

Canadians are almost never rude, however 'Conservative' Canadians are nobody's doormat either, so stifle the rude democratic comments....please.
If you actually have something meaningful to say...spit it out. That would be called dialogue...it would be better than what you toss out on a regular basis.

Took the elder spawn to the Cannibal Corpse/Amon Amarth/Lamb of God and Slayer's final tour Wednesday night.... Got into the mosh pit for a bit.... (I think I was the oldest dude in the pit by a..... generation)

I felt so Canadian while moshing, can't help it I'm too polite... Was running around in the mosh pit, and whenever I knocked someone over I'd stop, say "Sorry!" and help 'em back up..... Heck, whenever I'd plow into someone, step on someone's foot, anything, I was all "Sorry!"....

The funny thing was, everyone else was like that too... When I fell into the mud, I had a chorus of "sorry!" and several arms helping me back up immediately.....

Was the most Canadian mosh pit I'd ever seen! Was great, I loved it!
