I've been off work and unable to ride for about 4 weeks do to an unexpected surgery. Nothing horrible, just a suddenly needed repair.

As Mom used to say, "growing old ain't for pussys". The older I get the more I realize how right she was.

Yesterday, after what seemed like a year, I got out for a less than 100 mile ride and did some walking in a local state park while I was out. Figure if I can walk in the woods for 1/2 a mile and ride again then I'll be fit for work on Monday if the Doc approves. The wife seems to think I'm pushing it but it is what it is.

While I couldn't ride or work I slowly made some improvements to the scooter. I installed new Avons front and back and installed an Innovv K2 front/rear bike cam. There's so many piss poor drivers out there now that I thought a constanting looping front/rear camera system would be a good idea.

Probably a good way to record ride highlights too although capturing the videos is a bit of a pain. Like most electronic devices now, it's controlled from a smart phone which is also how you play back and save videos. Biggest downside is the bike has to be powered up to download directly to my phone. Then the phone gets connected via USB to my desktop so I can transfer the videos to it. It's also possible to remove the memory card from the DVR and transfer your videos that way if it's preferred. Quality of videos seems to be OK, the mic mostly pics up tire noise I shut off the sound recording feature.

The best thing about the new cam is that it just works. It starts recording when I turn on the key and stops a few second after the bike is shut off. It also has a G sensor which should protect film of an accident from being overwritten. I'm not sure how long the loop will be yet but I'm expecting 10-12 hours.

Good to hear things went well with the surgery.
And your getting back to riding!

As time passes and I get older your moms saying hits home!

Between just old age stuff (aches, pains in knees/back) and needing two pair of reading glasses for fine print, I developed Afib and contending with that!

Oh well, I suppose it's better than the alternative...

Remember, if you are on a bike and wreck with a car no matter how "in the right" you are you are going to lose. RIDE LIKE EVERBODY IS OUT TO GET YOU!!
