Radiator/fan alignment

1999 IS. Before I remove the right pod:I ran the bike till the fans booted to get some carb cleaner in the carbs, noticed alot of hot air exhaust from the left side, on the right not so much. I let it run awhile and the fans never cut off. I look in the right pod and notice a gap between the rad and the fan, on the left its flush. I replaced the rad awhile back. Any guesses before I go in? Can't be normal.
