Absent the body, present with the Lord. My sweet Rita breathed her last at 9:36pm tonight. No more pain, no more violent tremors from Parkinsons, strong and able to walk upright for the first time in years.

She was the love of my life and this will be a huge hole in my life, I can't imagine my life without her in it. Now my pain begins.....but I shall survive. I didn't get this far on my own power while caring for her, and I won't get through the aftermath on my own power as well. Thanks many times over for the support from everyone, it means a lot.

We are so sorry to hear of her passing, but as you say she is in a better place with the lord.  Just remember the good times before disease made life so hard for her. You have been a saint taking care of her the way you have, no one could have done more for her. If you need any thing please call any time.
God Bless

John, so very very sorry. You are one heck of a man stepping up to the plate like you have done.
Our prayers are now for you. Hoping the good memories and smiles quickly overtake the grief you now feel.
As others have said....if there is anything we can do for you please let us know.
I am sure there are many of us that would like to pay our respects to Rita and be there for you as well so please let us know when you are able to.
Now it is time to start taking care of yourself. She would want that.

Very very sorry and Saddened to see this post, though we know it was coming, it's never easy.  we grieve for you and we hope you find peace and comfort through the good times and memories you'd shared together, you've portrayed courage, selfishness and restlessness of what  real men supposed to be when faced with life challenges of this magnitude, you'd left no stone unturned caring for Rita, you my friend have set the bar high for all of us. Condolences to you and the family. God bless

I haven't been on my computer for a few days and I'm so sorry I'm just now commenting on this thread, John.  I agree with all the comments that have been given by everyone.  You have taken very good care of her and loved her more than yourself.  God will reward you for that one day when you see him.

All of you....I deeply appreciate your posts, we do have a really good group here in Florida. These first few days have been difficult beyond measure, having no responsibility other than to myself. A few years ago when the downhill slide began I promised Rita I would not put her in a nursing home as long as I was physically able. I'm proud to say I was able to honor that promise to the end. My love for her was boundless, but as I got older I found my strength and endurance wasn't. The last couple years she depended on me for 100% of her care, and I depended on her for the love she gave in return. The pain of her loss is beyond measure and I'm tormented by grief, but given time it will soften some.

Thanks again for your support.
