Absent the body, present with the Lord. My sweet Rita breathed her last at 9:36pm tonight. No more pain, no more violent tremors from Parkinsons, strong and able to walk upright for the first time in years.

She was the love of my life and this will be a huge hole in my life, I can't imagine my life without her in it. Now my pain begins.....but I shall survive. I didn't get this far on my own power while caring for her, and I won't get through the aftermath on my own power as well. Thanks many times over for the support from everyone, it means a lot.

John,  I wish no one had to feel what you are feeling right now. It will take time before you find your new normal life. It will happen, you will always miss her, but you will learn  how to live this new life I promise.

Prayers from the panhandle

You are a man of strength and character, John Schmidt.  HER PAIN IS GONE, SHE IS FREE.  She left this world knowing she was very loved and entered into eternal peace, health, love and joy.  You will be together again.  God bless you.

John,

My deepest condolences on your tremendous loss. The way you cared for your wife is nothing short of inspirational and I can only hope that I do half the job you did should I ever find myself in that situation. While I am sad for you I am happy that she is now in the arms of our savior, free of pain and living in paradise where I have no doubt you will be reunited some day.

John,

I'm so sorry for your loss, but I'm happy that Rita is at peace and no longer suffering.  There is not much anyone can do other than offer support, time will ease the pain of your loss, but I'm sure it will never be totally erased.  Hang in there.

I lack the words to relieve your sorrow but the strength you have shown and provided to your loving wife is beyond what most possess.   Please know that you and yours are in my thoughts and prayers.

Nothing will ever replace the hole in your heart but that same strength that got you this far will help you to carry on.   They say that time heals all wounds, I believe it only allows the pain to diminish but, it will always be waiting in the shadows to re-emerge as things remind you of the love of you life and her loss.  Take those times to remind yourself that her pain is over and she now looks down upon you with the same love she had while you were together.    Your and Rita's story is a special one.   Cherish it.

I am very sorry for your loss.

There is comfort in knowing that a loved one is free from their pain and suffering.

There is also comfort in knowing that you will see them again.

But that comfort does little to ease the initial pain and loneliness.

I feel for you and will pray for you to have comfort, strength and peace through this.

I hope that I never have to walk the path that you have.

But if I ever do, I would do well to follow the example that you have set.

In the days to come, Please be sure to find things to busy yourself so as to not fall into the trap of sitting around and staring at the walls.

You probably won't feel like doing anything, but it's important that you do something everyday.

John, a time of relief but also a time of sorrow.   The sorrow will diminish somewhat to be taken over by the store of memories which will never leave.

May the Lord be with you . You have been a Faithful servant to Rita.
