My Interstate came with a CB Radio which I used maybe two times since I have had it, I do not think I will be using it so I was contemplating selling the whole set up including trunk mount, antenna and mount, push to talk for passenger switch and some J&M headsets.
A quick search on ebay shows only one and the buy it now price of $500 which says only that it is an asking price since it has not sold.

What is your take on this?

Do you use CB radio, price, demand for it, etc....

I have a CB on my wing. I've used it a little. When riding with others, I stay intouch with the lead rider. When stuck in traffic, I've called a trucker to find out why, and how far up the highway the blockage is.

Had one once, only got it for group rides and didn't use it then.   Lost my antenna some how. You can have what's left if you want it for the price of shipping (assuming I can even find it now).

If the guys you regularly ride with (or some of them) have CBs, and like to talk back and forth on them, then you may want to be able to participate.

For most of my lifetime riding, no one had them or used them.  So I never had one either.  Most of my ride groups were 3-5, so hand signals were always sufficient, and if we needed to pull off to have a real conversation about things, we did it.

I later rode with a big SCRC chapter where the leader and road captains (usually two) all had them and used them to to keep the large group rides organized.  Like a guy in back telling the guys in front that someone back there broke down or fell down.  Or the guys in front telling the guys in back they were changing the route.  But the rest of us didn't really need them, and they probably wouldn't want us yacking on there when they were communicating ride business.

I don't know what the fair market value of one for Valks is.  You could look for adds on our classified or on Pinwall or Ebay to get an idea of asking prices.  Stick it on our classified.

Finally, while you may not be planning to sell your CB bike, if you ever did, the CB might be a sweeter for the sale, if a buyer wanted one.

I used to use a CB often when riding in a group where everyone had one.  I remember the all night ride they held every year on the summer solstice.  We were heading down a pass in the Colorado mountains, and a local policeman broke in to our conversation to tell us how pretty we looked riding into his town.  The CB helped keep you awake on that ride.  Today, with BT headsets, there's less of a need.

Back in the day of the 55 MPH national speed limit, CBs were widely used to share speed trap locations.  Today, with 75 and 80 MPH limits common in this part of the country there's less of a need for that information.

I use mine all the time, the group of people I ride with all have them. I think its nice to know when someone needs fuel, needs a break etc.
If traveling alone down the interstate, I switch it to 19 if needed, talk to a few truckers every now and then.
I listen to music through my GPS, the music cuts off when some one transmits.

There was one on my tourer when I got it. I was sure it turned on, but not
sure it worked. I put it on the classifieds and people beat a path to my
door trying to buy it... they were real popular then (2007)... I've been on
a couple of big rides where the lead guy would have one, and one or two
other guys, one in the middle and one at the end, would have one.

The only time I see value in having a CB radio is when leading large group rides.  Since I quit leading large rides I shouldn’t need one. It’s good to have one at TEC as well. Aside from that I’d rather just hear my music.

I have been on group rides that communication comes in really handy.
I agree with what has been said, depending on group size sometimes hand signal is enough, for big groups is a definite must have.

Jess, unfortunately with going prices for this great machines the add one sometimes do not add much to it, seems like most buyers are looking for bottom out the door price.

Seems like Bluetooth is another option but it also has some drawbacks like having to be in a straight line without obstructions, maybe the CB would have a better range when it comes to it

Thanks for the responses, will try to post on classifieds and/or FB first before going the eBay way.

Have one on my Interstate, I removed the antenna, I prefer silence. Some day if I am stuck with no cell phone service might wish I had it to call for help.
