If you haven't heard, NE Kansas got hit with a tornado from between Emporia to NE KCMO. It passed about 2-3 miles north of us ( no damage), but some areas look like a war zone. Fortunately - no loss of life with this storm.  angel

Glad you and yours were safe! At some point, I think the home building industry is going to have to look at better designs and materials to meet the dangers presented by these major storms. My current insurance policy specifically sets hail and wind damage apart and has a $5000.00 deductible for those events. I’m currently looking at other companies.

Ah Yes, tornado alley.  I remember it well.

Happy to learn no fatalities.

Some minor (no life threatening) injuries, but remarkbly few all things considered.

You’re lucky you still have a deductible for wind damage. Here in FL they took away deductible payments and now charge a flat percentage of the wind damage.

man that is horrible having NO deductible as a percentage of damage or VERY high deductible.  Here in WI all I know of have whatever you want the deductible to be for all damages such as 500.00 or 1K or whatever you choose.

really irks me on even having insurance on anything to be honest all the money spent wasted for that once in a lifetime 'just in case' moment you need it.

Am sure most of us have spent over the decades enough on home, life, auto, cycle, etc. insurance to buy our homes brand new all over again without needing insurance.

Just last night I priced out adding another cycle to my cycle insurance and did a scenario of dropping for the heck of it 4 of the 6 cycles and my rate would go UP NOT DOWN by 4 bucks per year.  How does that make any sense going from 6 to 2 cycles and the rate goes up not down?   uglystupid2

I guess if I ever sell 2 or 3 of my cycles,  I will just not tell my insurance company ever. cooldude
