Loggin on with Firefox

Some weeks ago I posted a problem in logging on this site and getting a error  "check your cookies".. I happened to notice a "guest" logon on the home page (top left hand corner) and decided to try using my id/pw and i'll be cursed .....it worked!!!!!!!

So why won't it work from the login tab????/.......nuts.

I have tweeked everything in settings I can think of to no avail, firefox seems to thing this should be a https: rather than just http:

Maybe you have something other than default clicked under preferences/security...

"they" want everything to be https these days, though lots of people who
run websites that don't involve private information (like this one) don't want
to deal with the trouble and/or expense of managing certificates...

As long as I can login thru the guest portal I am good to go.  Interestingly enough, if I select stay logged in for an hour, it fails with the cookie thing.  If I select stay logged in forever it works fine. nuff said.....
