I don't recognize that as being a Valkyrie carburetor. js

This is the area where the air funnel colllar sits, note the three tabs. I would say if it has sat for ten years it needs a deep soaking in carb cleaner, complete disassembly and all orings, needles etc replaced if needed.
RedEye make a carb gasket kit that should take care of all your needs.

Good luck

I went through a can and a half of Berrymans carb cleaner blowing mine out. I would blast one and let it sit, then blast again followed with compressed air. I continued doing that until I started getting seepage from another part of the carb. Then I started blasting through that part and blowing air. I did this back and forth until each flowed freely. Keep your mouth closed and wear safety glasses because the carb spray will go everywhere. Do not skimp on this step. It is the most important part to get these clean. You don’t want to have to do this over and over like I did.

Hey Forge, that was your persistent carb problem? I wonder if you noticed and remember where each of them went to?

Allbikes, I believe those would be more correctly looked at as vents instead of jets. At least one will vent the float bowl, not sure about the other two. I will check it out more closely next time I have the carbs off. Maybe Forge will give some more information on them.

One feeds air to the pilot circuit, one vents the float bowl, and one I believe goes to the air cut valve. Don’t remember exactly which is which. I had posted a similar question to yours asking which one went to the pilot circuit and I got several “what the hell are you talking about answers.” One DOES go to the pilot circuit. You will find out when you start using cleaner. Don’t hold me to it, but I believe it is #3, maybe #2.

When you say  " One DOES go to the pilot circuit." , where do you see it coming out when you spray Forge? out the holes in the throat under the butterfly, or out the 35 jet?

I thought I remembered it being number 3 for the pilot circuit!

The labels look wrong to me.  What you show in the top photo as pilot is the secondary jet, OEM stock #35 jet.  The pilot is the “D” shaped one outside of the carb bowl.

We also refer to enricheners instead of choke as they aren’t technically a choke.  I’m sure everyone knows what you mean, but in the spirit of accuracy and the fact that this thread is worthy of future reference to newbies, you might want to change the labels accordingly.

Thanks for taking the time and effort to show parts that aren’t found outside of the Service manual (such as Bikebandit or Partzilla).

Good luck.

Not trying to sound critical, but I feel you are thinking those are float bowl (area) pictures. If you look at the picture in the original post you will have a better look at what the picture is actually showing.

I myself was confused originally.

The top picture is clearly the float bowl...see the float?  You have to look hard. It’s the grungy orange-ish part shown in the picture.

The bottom pic shows what is found under the air horn.

I’ve worked on a lot of these and just finished rebuilding a set with all new internal components, including floats.
