My guess is the 2.3 4 cylinder and the 2.8 V6. Don’t know if they would be different bell housings.

Do you know what size motor was originally mated to the trans?

I was looking for the opposite, looking for a trans. I had a 2000cc manual. Don't know about the automatics. If I remember, there was a 1600, 2000, and a 2300.  The 1600 was a British Ford motor and needed a matching trans. The 2000 was a German Ford motor and trans. I think the 2300 was a US Ford motor and don't know about the trans. to go with it.

I had a '71 Pinto with a 2000cc/4 speed. I had a blast with that car! Drove the snot out of it! It was pretty quick up to about 60mph then it kinda ran out of beans. Spanked a co-workers 280 Z stop light to stop light.

Sorry I should have been more specific , it has a 1.6L four cylinder manual transmission I guess it's the British motor you mentioned

The Z wasn’t trying or it had an issue.
