I've been pretty cursed drunk a time or two. But never close enough to that drunk.

toes aside,  really surprised he was not dressed more appropriate mainly head and feet.  They do make boots to withstand -50 below and if walking slowly, am sure your toes would not get frostbite.  Same as head.  Wear a backlava covering entire head and stocking cap along with what I found out ice fishing Devils Lake ND wearing ski googles in -20 degree temps with 30 mph winds.  Yah,  my eyelashes were freezing shut as well sitting outside or even in a portable shack without ski goggles on .  Never really had that before eyelashes sticking shut if blinking and do not mean just a little, but enough to make me worry being unable to blink.

I spent a winter in Minnesota  back in '74 about 50 miles south of International Falls.  I was working in the trees/snow in 20-30 degrees below.  Never had a problem keeping warm nor frost bite.  I was wearing enough clothes in layers which could be remove or added as needed.   Never had my eye brows nor beard freeze up on me.  no goggles nor fringed hood.  Just layers.

Even rode a dozen or more times with landlord on snowmobiles at night.  Both of had to work and only time we could go play.   Not bad at night and 30 below.

Of course when the wind came up we stayed/worked inside.
