Why do you NEED to rejet? Many people experience worse performance when they do.

Factory Pro makes a great kit.  I had mine dyno tuned and the 102 mains and 38 slows brought the rear wheel horsepower back to the initial stock rating of 90hp (Denver 5280 ft altitude) with minimal popping on decel.  The needles were shimmed to the 3rd notch on the aftermarket needles.  With a OEM jetting, K&N Air filter, and cobra pipes my bike ran very lean...not good for long-term engine durability.

I lost 6 hp with the Cobra pipes before re-jetting.  The dyno tune before, during, and after was worth the effort.  I’ve since installed glaspaks and returned the carbs to stock jetting.  If you install the aftermarket jet kit be sure to save the OEM needles just in case since they are very pricey to re-purchase.

thanks for input to all . I think I need to get carbs apart and clean and go from there. will still take in all in put. since this is the first time going in carbs, all I've ever done is cobra pipes and re-adjust carbs.

I've posted this a few times over the yrs.
posted last sept.

This was posted by J. Orr, 3/27/1998, on the GWRRA BBS, valkyrie section.
The following mods were done by Marc the owner of Factory Pro on a valkyrie that had cobra 6x6 pipes.
K&N filter (w/o prefilter)
Air box mod (remove plastic welded baffle)
38 pilot jet
3.5 turns idle mixture screw
front needles set on #3
mid and rear needles set on #2
115 main jets all carbs
this picked up 5 hp over the base run with the cobras.

this HP is still down from the stock pipes or almost the same.
