I know key can be cut to match the lock but how about the other way around?

Which lock?

I've re-keyed many Honda, Kawasaki and aftermarket locks with this cylinder design. Some are sealed; some are relatively easy to get apart.

Old locks found @ the swap meets are a good source of pins, springs and whatnot.

I want to get the saddlebags re-keyed so I can use my ignition/gas tank/seat/fork key
My bike is a 2003 CD converted to CT Smiley
I'm trying to find the saddlebag locks with the "right" Type B key cylinder (my bike's key designation is "D").
I also need to know if in fact key "C" and key "D" are the same for re-keying purposes - as they are both "right"

A and D are different - I have one each arrangement on my current Valkyries.

As mentioned...cruise the swap meets or eBay and get a set of cylinders that you can swap. I always took my key to the meets and tried the locks before buying a potential source of parts.

I know A and D are different but what about C and D?
If I get the entire set off of CT bike, I guess I can just swap al the locks for a matching set.
Can the gas cap cylinder be swapped? I found a set that has some rough gas cap and mine is pristine

Hey guys, I posted my keying issue a while ago. If you replace the main switch it comes with a new key. The Honda keys are double cut but the lock cylinders only reads one side of the key. You can have new keys cut with each pattern. The only issue then is turn the key around if the lock cylinder does not move. Since I do not have OEM saddle bags I do not know if they are keyed to the gas cap and ignition cylinders. If they are, give this a try verses the trouble of removing cylinders.

Any decent locksmith can easily rekey the other locks to match your ignition. My local guy did it by sight just looking at the key and rearranging the lock tabs inside. It took him about 3 minutes each. I did take the locks off my bags and took them in to him.
