When going with shorter shocks do you lower the forks on the triple tree? I am 6 foot nothing and this is for an overseas friend.

Bruce’s bike had 11.5” shocks with no change to the forks all was well. You can only slip them like a half inch or so anyway there’s a shoulder for them to clamp on. You have to stay mostly on that shoulder

I’m 5’4” and went with 12.5” progressives on the rear and raised the front forks in the triple tree 1/2” on my ‘99 Interstate. They say not to do that, but I did. After talking to Progressive’s tech support, they recommended I not go any lower than 12.5”, because that would move into the heavy duty shock range which would be too hard for my 180 pound weight. I’ve also had spinal surgery, so I don’t need a harsh ride.

This combination has helped me tremendously, so at least now I’m solidly on the balls of my feet with the stock interstate seat. I still am very mindful of where I park or stop at lights. I have an Ultimate Lowrider on the way, so I’m hoping that helps a little more.
