It's a ride I keep hearing about, but haven't done.  I did the Tail of the Dragon in N.C., but not the sisters in my own backyard!

anyone want to plan a trip to do that ride?

Same here.
Heard a lot about it but never did it. And I'm even 100 miles closer, Victoria.
Had a few buddies ride them and talk highly of it!

On the bucket list, just not sure when.

Wow! All in one day?  Not sure I could handle that in one day. Especially this time of year.

Plenty of write-ups have been done, but this is an older one by a local who has ridden with a number of us from VRCC.  https://ridermagazine.com/2013/07/08/twisted-sisters-the-texas-hill-countrys-most-famous-trio/  Gotta love the comments under it, too.

The actual loop that most people think of is only ~100 miles. Plenty of time in the day to ride it each way if you want to.  Wear your camelbak and stay hydrated this time of year.

Don't ride at dawn, dusk or dark. Too many animals on the roads and it can maim or kill you. (Oh, if you're on a Valk, beware of buzzards as they will sometimes attack unexpectedly near your head or shoulders.)

Go and stay at the Historic Leakey Inn (formerly the D'Rose) and then ride all 3 Sisters.  With any luck, we'll have a ride to the Hill Country in October (The Texas Hill Country Ride) this year.

Yes and no. Riding the sisters will just a one-day thing (As SideCar stated, the loop is only about 100 miles around), but we are staying at a campground on Lake Medina, and will ride from there Saturday morning coming up Hwy. 16 to Medina, and then take FM 337 to Leakey.

Once we are in Leakey, we will fill up with gas, grab lunch at the Bent Rim, and then make the loop which will put us back in Leakey. Fill up with gas again, and then head back to Lake Medina.

Just something to look forward too...

This is on RR337 east of Leakey (pronounce lāk′・ē) looking towards Vanderpool.

Frio Canyon Motorcycle stop where you'll find the Bent Rim Grill.  Just west of downtown Leakey on RR337...

Last time I was there (almost two years ago), the roads - RR335, RR336 and RR337 - were in pretty sad shape.  On some of the switchback curves you'd find yourself riding on either raw tar or gravel.  I suspect they've done some maintenance since then.  Nevertheless, the views are spectacular!  Plus the whole area is motorcycle friendly with places like Fat Boys BBQ in Camp Wood, the Lone Star Motorcycle Museum near Lost Maples, or even the Rio Frio Motorcycle Stop pictured above.

Some other roads to consider are 1050 between Garner State Park and Utopia (where you'll find the Lost Maples Cafe), then 187 from Utopia all the way to 39...and so on.  Plenty of great places to see and great roads to ride to make a multi day trip fun.  I suggest ride early then float on the Rio Frio in the heat of the day.  Plenty of good eats for dinner like Neal's in Concan that you can ride to before it's too dark.  Deer are not bad this time of year, but like SideCar says, look out for buzzards!

Ride safe y'all!

My wife and her friend Nancy rode this route three years ago when she attended a MotorMaids annual convention in San Antonio.

She got dive bombed by a buzzard at one point and she had to duck down behind her windshield.  Funny stuff.

I remember riding the sisters in the mid 80s of course there was no name for the roads back then.  I would be the only motorcycle riding on it and I would be amazed,  I would get back to Houston and rave about them no one wanted to go too far I was told.  Just grateful to have experienced before the crowds came.
