So I had my right hip replaced on June 17. Went back to the dr. Yesterday for x rays and a chat about what I can and can’t do. No pool, bike, softball, keep walking to 1 mile or less ( been doing a mile daily for the last week) and no yard work yet.
I’ve had a groundskeeper from work doing my yard since surgery. She does an awesome job and needed a few xtra bucks, my wife says she does a better job than me!

Anyhow, when she parked the tractor this afternoon, I asked her to help me try to get on the bike. She says no way would she help me. Ok, just stand by and call 911 if I fall... coolsmiley
I got on with no pain at all! Stood her up straight, and I hear the garage door closing. She says NFW you’re riding that thing while I’m here!
Nope, no intention to ride. I’m a happy guy just being able to get on it.  cooldude

Can’t ride for another month or so but it sure felt good getting on!
And my groundskeeper is sworn to secrecy, since the wife would flip out if she knew I was on the bike. (BTW, wife & groundskeeper get along great)

am sure it is tearing you up inside not able to drive a cycle/scooter 2 wheels of anything if 1 month or more.  I had a torn miniscus 10 years or so ago having surgery and took near 1 month before I felt good enough to hold the 800lb. bike upright safely.  First few days were hell just walking going to bathroom is about it or sleeping took about 1 week before not having to use crutches or walking very gingerly.  I did try after a few weeks moving the bike around in garage but said to myself risk not worth the reward.

It will come sooner than you think or so I hope....  hang in there!!     cooldude

Wink Sounds like a good plan to me.  ??? Keep the groundskeeper after you're all better.  Roll Eyes cause the wife likes her and her work. So you'll be able to ride more often after you heal up!  Evil

True that Rob!  I got the ok to drive yesterday, that will help with the boredom.

I hear you Dennis, seems healing takes forever.

Great report Craig  cooldude

Keep on doing the healing thing.

Agreed, I assumed there is physical therapy involved.  Stick with it.   After my crash in September last year, it was 8 months before I had the range of motion to even grab hold and mount up.   Still don’t have the strength or stamina to take on a long distance ride.    But, with time and conditioning, that to will happen again.

Great story. I too can identify with the need to at least sit on the bike. A couple years ago I had a couple three injuries and the healing time was almost worse than the injuries. I had to have a friend come by and ride my bike to the gas station to get it filled up with Techron in it so it could  sit for a couple months.

During those couple months I sat on the bike several times. Like you with no intention of riding, just needed to feel the saddle and at least one grip. Lol

Keep it up, get all the way well!

Take your time and do the rehab.  It will be worth the wait and effort in the long run.

If that ground keep Oss shows us is available, I could use her.   2funny 2funny

Thanks all for the encouragement. I’m sticking with the rehab exercises twice a day and walking 1 mile daily.

$Ball, I’m all too aware of that weight, and have been running her in the garage once a week. Not rolling her out till I know I can hold her up no problem.

Oss, if that was my groundskeeper, I don’t think the wife would be on board...
