Author Topic: Two Brothers Six in Six Pipes  (Read 1610 times)

No native speaker here, so bear with me.

I've got Six-in-Six pipes for a few bucks very recently  - they are in good working condition (mufflers in there, too) but neglected as hell, as you can see.



These TBRs are extremely hard to get over here, so I took them anyway and now want to touch them up. As a winter project - so time is no matter.

Unfortunately no info about them anywhere to find. What's the best size of main jets for them? Are these made of regular steel or stainless? If I see the rust most probably they aren't. Just let them polish up or should they go off to the Chrome-Shop?

Any insights, informations and hints are highly appreciated!

Mike:  I can't speak to the construction, but the pipes were designed as direct replacements for the OEM exhaust with no modifications needed to the factory jets, needles, air box, etc.  In this regard, they're  essentially "plug and play."  Hope this helps.  Terry

The rust spots beyond the headers will probably polish out.

I have on one bike a set that is painted black on the header end.  They look good.

Mike,

Congrats.  These pipes are hard to find on any side of the pond.

Two Bros recommends no rejetting, as they are designed to run well with Factory jetting.

This is definitively the place for info about these pipes.

At the risk of stating that which you may jolly-well-know "search is your friend" lest you think I taking the piss on you  Cool

( My wife watchs a lot of British telly and I love some of the British slang)

Advise mentioned re  sweat equity on a winter polish job or powdercoating already mentioned.

I contacted Two Bros and asked for any info they may have and they said it was so long since they made these pipes, but they are looking.

Whatever you end up doing regarding "form"  you have all the top-shelf "function" fully entact!

I have TWR 6 into 2 carbon fiber cans. Bought at a swap meet for cheep.  All blued headers and crossover  so I painted them with high heat black. Look and sound great.

The headers on these pipes are quality double-walled.

Mine are light gold when hot.

Good to know 'bout the canister headers.

Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it!

My Valk is a power limited (still stock  Wink) German version. Laws back then limited the power to 100HP for motorcycles.
So my kind of  leashed dragon sports a whispering exhaust with reduced tube diameters and smaller piggies, has a foam restriction in the air box lid and 35 slow and 78 main jets installed.

Regarding best sized jets - not sure if 100 or 105 main would do best - same goes for slow jets. Keeping 35 or go slightly bigger. I don't want to add a K&N Air filter for several reasons, keeping this particular part stock instead. So I'm now a bit lost about jet size. What are stock sizes for US Models?

Already on the shelf that should add beautifully to the TBR: US-Airbox lid, Dyno kit, 4° Trigger wheel.

News from the Chrome-Front... No shop around here will take used exhaust parts for chroming. They don't want their chem-baths contaminated.

Stay with 100 main jets....105 way too rich.  35 or 38 secondary are your choice.  I would stick with stock 35 secondary jets.  The difference in jet size is 3 microns.

Most chrome shops won’t touch used exhausts...it contaminates their tanks and plating solutions.  Paint or powder coat probably your only options.  You should have them blasted before coating to remove rust and scale and provide a rough surface for the coating to stick to.  The better the surface prep then the better the final finish will be on your pipes.

I don't know about jetting as I run with glasspack mod.
As for condition of pipes personally I would go with ceramic coating rather than powder coating. Ceramic coating will tollerate the heat far better that powder coating and as the added benifit of keeping the heat in the exhaust which may have a very small effect on performance.....not that you'll notice
