Don't threaten me with a good time

Greeneville, TN

« on: July 27, 2019, 04:14:19 PM »

*Update*

Ride Date is set for first weekend of October (4th-6th) Ride in Friday, Ride Saturday, Say Goodbye on Sunday

Location : Thompson's Motel, Franklin WV 304-358-2331 (Be sure to mention you are with the motorcycle group for a discount) I'm not sure exactly what room prices are at the moment.

The restaurant out front is no longer open, the motel has 33 rooms reserved for us.

Herb will be leading a ride Saturday morning to an unknown destination in the vicinity of Seneca Rocks. I have no idea what route we are taking , so don't ask for details. He also will be installing the famous "fender" on Eric's wing and riding it down with Shawnee.

Shawnee (Eric's Wife) will have decals and T-shirts available for attendees to commemorate the character that Eric was.

Thanks Reb keep us updated. If work permits I would love to make this ride. Only met him twice but feel I knew him as he was an outgoing fun guy that never met a stranger.

Been working 7 days a week for last three weekends I'm hoping it ends soon . If I get a good heads up I'll do my best to make this ride . I've had Eric on my mind while screamin' down the road on 22 wheels staring out the windshield since his untimely death... I'm going to miss the big man.

I never could understand why some of us have long lives and others leave suddenly, whether you're ugly, good looking, rich or poor, happy of sad, when your calling comes, it's time to go.
Eric  was the the kind of guy that brought a smile to your face whether you knew him well or was just introduced.  Just knowing him enriched your life and will always remember his presents.
My fondness memory of Eric was on the Corbin, Ky. ride, when he pulled in with his goldwing towing a small flatbed trailer carrying the biggest Anvil I'd ever seen on it.  I don't doubt that he put it on there himself.l  Rest in peace my friend.

I remember that, didn't Gordon go with him to pick it up? We always called Gordon Eric's midget  Grin we love you too Gordon. I also remember the year Eric and Herb showed up at the DRU. Eric was one of the first people to know about my wife being pregnant with our our 2nd son. Found out in 2013 at the FCR. Wife called and told me, rainman walked in our room and I told him, I walked up the hill to the fire and Eric was there and told him. He has left an everlasting impression on this group and we are all better people for knowing him.  angel

Just told Cheryl about this.  She's beside herself with this news.  There are MANY in this little club that have gone above and beyond to make Cheryl feel comfortable and accepted.  Smokin' Joe, Old2Soon, the Doenges clan, Willow and Momma, Steamer, Troutdude and Shelia, Robin and Judy, Punisher, GIG and Lola, BigD, Roger, Diane and Rainman, and of course OSS and Bonnie, and so many more, and ESPECIALLY this included Eric.  The hugs and smootches he stole, right in front of his wife and her husband, from Cheryl are as special as he is.  He lead us on many rides, including the Gray/Blue ride that I brought my son, Eric, on.  My family has lots of good memories because of this guy.

My room is booked.

Bump!

Looks like the the motel is sold out. If anyone is on a waiting list. I'll try to get with the motel and see if we can double some folks up if they are willing and rolling single in a double room. The unfortunate think with Franklin is a lack of overflow venues. I think the nearest motel is about 30 miles away from Ground Zero. Stay tuned!

FYI - There is a group of three or four cabins just a mile or two north of the Thompson Motel.  I gave up my room at the Motel for the hillbilly ride as several friends wanted to go but the motel was sold out.  It was a very nice, private place.
