"Ulle's Gold" was the only other movie he did that I would call mentionable. Most were pretty bad. Still, he did raise a little hell and was usually on the right side of speaking his mind. I hope his spirit rolls as free as his character in his iconic movie. "We blew it." was a memorable line in the movie and an ironic statement, maybe of a generation. History will pay notice many decades from now whether we did or not. So, Wyatt and Billy are ridin' high again. Rest easy...riders.

Awe, man, this the first I've heard of this. Easy Rider movie was probably the second most influential movie that I idolized when I was 19 in 1969. I was already motorcycle crazy and the easy rider movie lit a fire under me and got me wanting to do a long distance motorcycle trip. You got to understand that in 1969 there were very few long distance motorcycles traveling across the country. We are talking pre Goldwing era. Triumphs, BSAs, Harleys.....nothing would hold up to long distance traveling. Some BMWs were out there. The Honda 750s were just coming out and pretty reliable. Probably one of the best movies ever made in its time . No body could have played that part better than Peter Fonda. Then the movie and series "Then Came Bronson" came out and that was it......in 1971 bought a Kawasaki 500cc 3 cylinder 2 stroke and headed out of Houston to the Grand Canyon .....and I was hooked....been traveling ever since.
RIP Peter Fonda

Everyone remembers the shocking final scene in Easy Rider. It made a lasting impression on me too. All I could think about was... I got to get me some of those awesome 12 gauge loads they used in that movie.

I was seventeen in 1969 and was greatly impressed with the movie (though I seriously questioned whether the final shotgun hit could've been made). I watched it again after I had grown up and I ain't saying nothing at all......

never saw the complete movie, but what i saw didn't care for it. glorifying two drug dealers. lets not forget........but I guess he approved of the UN communist his sister was married to? https://www.cnn.com/2018/06/20/politics/peter-fonda-baron-trump-secret-service/index.htmlThe United States Secret Service has been alerted in response to a tweet by actor Peter Fonda, who said Barron Trump -- President Donald Trump's youngest son -- should be separated from his mother and put "in a cage with pedophiles." "We should rip Barron Trump from his mother's arms and put him in a cage with pedophiles and see if mother will will stand up against the giant a--hole she is married to. 90 million people in the streets on the same weekend in the country. F---," Fonda wrote in a tweet, which has since been deleted.

For those of you who missed the theme of the movie "Easy Rider" my heart goes out to you. You missed the meaning of one of the greatest motorcycle movies ever made. At a time (1969) when us young motorcycle lovers were craving for anything motorcycle related this movie hit the big screen. If all you saw was drugs, prostitution, and red neck hate for truly free people then you missed the meaning. I saw a couple of free spirits that shucked the establishment, bought motorcycles, and hit the road to travel back roads, see God's hidden majestic creations, and meet really neat people along the way. I saw motorcycle riders with the wind in their face smelling the steam of the rain on a hot paved road, with bugs on their teeth when they smiled, sleeping on a blanket on the ground in the company of friends with the same motorcycle souls. No one could have played the part any better than Peter Fonda did.
The movie Easy Rider influenced my motorcycle riding future tremendously. I feel for those who weren't able to see the movie when it first came out.

It's art. The "point" comes from within. We all see different things when looking in the same direction. A previous poster saw the same thing you did with one more thing..... " I saw a couple of free spirits that shucked the establishment, bought motorcycles, and hit the road to travel back roads, see God's hidden majestic creations, and meet really neat people along the way to deliver drugs."

She apologized, but didn't really mean it. Going through training for the Air Force JAG department, they brought in a Col Henry Fowler to speak to us. He was still on active duty, though after being hit with a sam missile and ejection from his F4, and injuries and six years of abuse in the Hanoi Hilton, the Air Force paid for his schooling and let him transfer to the chairborne JAG department. He told us (among other things), that when Jane was in Hanoi, he was informed he would be meeting her on camera (to demonstrate their benevolent treatment of US POWs). He flat out refused to attend the propaganda event and told them he would be disruptive, so they beat him with a ball peen hammer and fractured his scull. And he did attend. She didn't just disrespect the country and our military, she actively brought aid and comfort to the enemy in time of war. She should have been stripped of her citizenship (or tied over a canon) (or both). https://www.veterans-in-blue.af.mil/Veterans/Veterans-in-Blue-Volume-3/Display/Article/757969/http://www.veterantributes.org/TributeDetail.php?recordID=1459

I agree. I'd like to see her treated as our POWs were. I worked on POW recovery and can say the north didn't conform to anything resembling the mandates of the Geneva Convention. [ having a hard time trying to be civil, won't sleep tonite.]

I was not going to say anything in reference to Peter Fonda's passing out of respect for those that may have cared for him but, your post demands me to respond. Peter Fonda lived off his daddy's reputation and was not much of an actor or patriot as far as I'm concerned. We all have our own opinions. As with most entertainment, the viewer comes away with different perspectives dependent on their own values. I didn't miss the "hit the road" theme. It does appear that others didn't find the "dope dealer" as a bad thing, so who's to say who missed what and what were the reasons for their perspectives? I saw two drug dealers riding motorcycles giving other motorcyclist another stigma to bear from a public perspective and was not disappointed by the "Red Necks" who disposed of the trash. Did his character really need to be a dope dealer to hit the road? Peter Fonda and his sister's contribution to our society is nothing to be proud of. I will not miss his sister either. Rams
