Hey guys, big problem. So I was trying to change out my antifreeze for the first time and I was reading about how not to over tighten it the drain bolt when done. Well I was trying to open the drain bolt from the water pump and the previous owner tightened the bolt so hard I couldn't open it so I pulled really hard and the bolt flew off and was snapped in half and the other half is still inside and wont get out only one two drops fell out. What should I do?

If there’s enough of the broken bolt exposed to grab with channel locks, or to file a slot in for a large screwdriver, you might be able to remove it and replace the drain bolt.

Best course of action may be to simply replace the water pump cover, drain bolt and washer.

Water pump cover is NLA (no longer available).

Either buy a complete water pump assembly (which includes the cover) or head to eBay and get a used one.

Dry the area and put a dab of JB weld in the hole. (Don’t ask how I know Undecided) but has been holding for well over ten years.

Do this. Then for future reference. I never use that bolt. Just disconnect the hose from the pump housing. Faster and easier
