After a month and half of the adjuster dropping the ball and the insurance company dropping the ball I finally got an answer. They are totaling the trike. Time to move to a new one.

As long as you end up with what tickles your fancy, I'm happy for you.

I am curious though, who was your insurer?   I had my Valkyrie insured by Progressive, quite frankly I was amazed at how fast the whole process worked and how quickly I got paid.   But then, there was no question as to whether or not she was fixable.   In her case (and almost mine), a total loss was obvious.  It may not have been so obvious with your Trike.

The problem with mine was. They sent an adjuster that knew nothing about bikes. Not the insurance companies fault but the fault of the company they hired to do the job. The reason they had to hire another party is because it was on fire. My claims agent did not keep tabs on the adjuster. And because he didn't know what he was doing he pushed it off to the side. After i got supervisers involved and they lite a fire under everyones butt things started to happen. The adjuster was awhere that there was parts detroyed that are no longer availible. But tried to come up with a parts list anyway. since it has taken so long the insurance is bending over backward to appease me. But we'll see what they offer. I might have to counter offer. Hoping to hear Monday afternoon what their offer is. I've had so much trouble with the motortrike end of this trike that I'm thoroughly fed up working on it and having issues. I personally think that the heim joints came loose in the ladder bars so many times that the ladder bars are shot. I would be spending 1500.00 for new ladder bars and new heim joints. And I'm not doing it. So next Saturday Hopefully I'll be at the cycle shop putting in my order for a 2019 kawasaki voyager and installing a csc trike kit.  I've had other claims on this bike that was handled proto. So as far as my insurance provider. I will stay with them. I have a Cadillac policy and hate to give it up.

motortrike doesnt like taking care of anything that they build, and they will tell you that whatever is wrong is something that you did .... what a joke.

yep, when i had mine built it was so messed up that it was almost unrideable.
took it back to the dealer 3 times and their response was we aren't fixing it. because we don't know whats wrong with it.
that winter i tore it all apart and found all of their mistakes. called the president of motortrike and was basically told that it was my problem and that the dealer done his best. vowed and declared after that moment i would never buy another motor trike kit as long as i live. if i posted everything i found  that was assembled wrong and engineered wrong it would be a 2 page post.

Hip is titanium now, matches the other side!
I took the summer off from work to recover, and have been going to the gym everyday to rehab it and get back to riding & playing softball. I got 1,000 or so miles post surgery and can hold her up with the new hip now.

Planning on making the Pow Wow next year for sure!

It’s good to hear of good outcomes with insurance companies. They seem few and far between.  cooldude

Did you ask at all about a personal buy back? Mine came back to me for $1K, I think it could easily been resold to someone for double that. Could do it yourself, pre-sell it, and then flip it when you get it back.

they asked me if i wanted to buy it back, told them no way, i didn't want anything to do with it.
the only salvageable parts would have been from the tank forward., with as much damage as it done to the harness i have no way of knowing if anything electrical would have worked without installing a new harness. as far as the trike kit, i wouldn't feel right selling it to anybody with as much trouble as i had with it. and that trike kit was going to cost me another 1500 this winter. for new ladder bars and heim joints. the wrong shocks were installed whenever the trike was installed and it broke the top shock mounts off the frame because the shocks were to short, didn't find that out until last year when i ordered new shocks for it. maybe the harness shorting out was a blessing, not sure but it has eliminated a frekkin headache off of my shoulders. i truely loved that bike and hated to see it go but i also got really tired of crawling under that thing trying to keep that motortrike kit togather and functioning. i would not have felt right submitting someone else to the headaches. if ya know what i mean.

Hey Lone This is very good news for you and Deb. You putting the trike kit on or letting a dealer? Looked at some pics and it is going to be a great looking ride.
Very happy for you two.

Thanks for that explanation, I don't feel as bad that a bike is getting wrecked. With mine, if the same thing was to have happened today, I would have fixed it. At the time, an inexpensive frame was not accessible, an OEM for $1500 USD was the only option.
