EAST TROY — East Troy-based Buell will come back next year under a new brand focused on racing motorcycles.

Company founder Erik Buell said Monday he will open a new company in January to support existing Buell racing motorcycles and build new racing models starting in 2010.

I think this was true when it was first introduced...but I believe you can get it here now.  Obviously, it's not a dirt version with knobby tires and all, but HD lists it on their USA webpage.

The bike in the video is a modified xr1200 with longer travel suspension an wire wheels with knobby tires.

The XR1200 has been available at virtually every HD dealer for at least a year now. It was a euro model for 2008 only. It became a late intro 2009 model early this year. t was not intended to replace the Buells. It was to replace the older Sportster Sport 1200. If you weant one, most HD dealers have them at cost,....they don't sell well with traditional HD buyers.

All true. As for the sales, there was a major outcry when HD introduced it as a "Europe-only" model then HD buyers turned their noses up at it when HD relented and introduced it to the US. Hard to say if the initial reaction was typical xenophobia or the subsequent disappointing sales of the bike was because it wasn't slow enough to suit HD buyers. Or both.
