for those who live up there,  you have a WOW factor in your area for sure.  Only thing I wish I had done even though a tad pricey (what is not)  is take the 2 1/2 hour 38 dollar boat tour of the cliff sides and waterfalls from Lake Superior out of Munising MI   We thought we could walk most of it, which we did, but each walk to see something WOW factor was between 2 and 8 miles IN then same OUT with on average 4-6 mile walks thru woods, over trees, up/down steps so not as easy as just 'walking'.

I think the whole shoreline is near 40 miles long but to get to most WOW spots to see waterfalls /cliff sides was a few miles inward, and then some, which basically took 1/2 your day (4-5 hours or so total walking) and did not have 6-7 days to see it all, but 3-4.   I even ran out of SD card storage on my cell phone taking so many videos and pics in the week up in northern WI and into Michigan.

I did find out from several places that the snowmobilers up there in winter do NOT like ATVer's going on 'their' trails in the winter even though is legal to do.  They said the snowmobilers up there will slash your ATV tires or wreck your ATV for just showing up doing nothing wrong.  Nice folks up there aye??    tickedoff    Regardless of what they say,  if in low 30's for temps and plenty of snow as there usually is way up north,  if driving sensible/normal,  NO ATV tires will ruin the snowmobile trails, is a myth.  They just do not like sharing the snowmobile trails in winters with ATV's since it probably slows them down only able to do 30-40 mph vs. snowmobiles going 100 mph.

I heard this from several up there even one trail groomer for snowmobiles who worked for an ATV/snowmobile dealership up there since even he got ripped on after grooming the snowmobile trails for hopping on his UTV to ride home after smoothing out their trails.  He sees it every winter snowmobilers puncturing ATV tires or otherwise harassing ATV users in general in the winter up in northern MI.

Even did 177 miles in Hurley WI ATVing and seeing great waterfalls (about 9) in the WI area as well as the black river waterfalls in Michigan another 30 miles north of Hurley which IMO was the BEST of all for waterfalls that is a series of 5 larger waterfalls all on same road, same river,  about 1/2 mile apart from one another and easy 1/2 mile walk in to see each one with each one having their own smaller separate parking lot taking only 3 hours total.

Porcupine forest in MI was o.k. but could have skipped it was not too impressed with their 3 waterfalls but still worth seeing.

ATVing in Hurley WI was very good as well but they could do some trail grooming especially first 5-6 miles and more OUT of town for there are rocks and potholes (filled with water) a foot deep EVERY 10 feet to either go thru slowly or go around slowly since top speed 15 mph for miles and  miles takes forever.  They probably do that on purpose to keep safety having to go under 15 mph for dozens of miles.  We went out on a Sunday on the ATV trails (routes) did most all trails and a few high speed gravel road routes (smooth as butter can go easily 50 mph) and was well worth it since only saw 3 other ATV/UTV''s out there from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. all day.  I guess they had an ATV benefit run on Saturday was very busy so glad we did it on a Sunday no one around was sort of shocked so not busy but was thankful for that as well as NOT blowing an ATV tire on all the rocks/boulders having to go on, very rocky all over the trails and thankful for NO rain since can see those ATV trails up there when wet and muddy being very slippery and dangerous going up/down steep rocks/mud mix.

$38 dollar boat tour is the way to go. When we did it the weather was pretty foggy and they refunded 1/2 the cost of the tour. But the fog made it even more awesome. The fog broke during the ride and we got to see some stunning views of the painted rocks.

Tour would have been great at twice the price. Don't tell them that.

Rode over to Grand Marias. Nice road over, great brew pub there.

Munising has got some good smoked fish places.

Hope to go back someday.

Were hoping to get to Whitefish bay but only got as far as Grand Marias and ran out of time. Long long story on that one.

If it didn't snow in the winter I'd live there.

Yep,  the more we walked and walked and walked those 3+ days all day long the MORE we thought we should have bucked up and paid the 38 dollar fee.  Walking 12 miles per day is not much fun all day long especially the 3rd and 4th day.  My wife has one of those apple watches and was around 12 miles x 4 days plus 5th day was close to 4 miles before heading home so over 50 miles in less than 1 week is enough for me.

I would pick though a sunny calm day for the boat tour for sure though since the sun shining on the cliffs makes the colors stand out more so than when it is cloudy or raining out since when we walked the cliffs was foggy and drizzling and then at the end the sun came out and cliffs were more colorful and awesome to snap pics of.

A lot of days the 2-3 boats they have I saw do not go out due to too strong of winds which is common up there am sure.  10-15 foot swells on lake superior is nothing to joke about on the water.

That is partly why on Saturday at the Yooper ride  I rode my Valk to the train to the boat for that 4 hr cruise to the waterfalls

The hike was less than a mile total

If I saw beautiful scenery like that I would be more apt to walk that extra 3-4 miles one way to see another waterfall or cliffside.  The only one we did not see is the main cliff being 6 miles in and 6 miles back out, but came close one day 4 1/2 miles each way.

We did the boat tour of Pictured Rocks on both trips to the UP. Absolutely worth every penny of the price.

Also, rode the Valk to the train that takes you to the boat to the falls. Again, very well worth the price of admission. Unfortunately, we didn't the indigenous wildlife as shown in the picture above. Must have to time it just right.  Grin Grin
