My knees and joints are to old to be crawling around on the floor with jacks and jack stands and 3 of my cars to to low to do anything without getting them up in the air.my main work space is my basement garage and headroom is an issue so as a compromise I bought a Quickjack at Costco last week. They had them for $999.99 for much of the summer which is about the lowest price ever especially since no freight is involved. I got an e-mail last week that they were offering another $100.00 bucks off till the end of the month or supply ran out. I couldn’t pass it up.

This one is a 5000 lb rate model and it handled my Corvette with no problems.

Some have paid as much as $1350.00 in years past when they were new to the market. But maybe you misunderstood, that was an additional $100.00 off making my purchase $899.99.

May I ask besides oil changes and tire rotations,  what is the need to have them in a newer corvette?  Maybe new brake pads every 50-80K miles?

I suppose you cannot buy a pair of 40 dollar ramps to drive it up on easy enough to do oil changes since no ground clearance correct scraping the front end on the ramps?

It is a pain in the butt,  but jacking up each tire one at a time is not horrible just time consuming for sure that I know all too often lately doing brake pads and snow/summer tires on/off 3 vehicles.

I feel your pain too but I'm wondering how high that lift goes.  When I use my cycle lift the limit is 17 inches.  I wheel around on a little stool but there are times I have to get down on my knees.

Very nice.  cooldude

I see no jack lock outs, so I assume you must still use stands if you are going under the car?

I’m a big believer in tire rotation on a regular basis and having all four off the ground at once is much quicker. This doesn’t apply to the Corvette because the tire sizes are staggered but my other vehicles get rotated no more than 5000 miles of use. As a rule I don’t use dealerships or pro garages for work on my vehicles and at some point in the not to distant future I’m going to do a clutch upgrade. In the C5 Corvette you have to drop down the entire rear cradle with the transaxle and the torquetube. That’s around $2,000.00 all in at a garage/shop. So in my case, it should pay for itself in short order. The lift is also nice for detailing the lower parts of the car.

No jack stands! The lift has two lock positions, one at half height and one at full height. After you reach full height you back off the hydraulic pressure so the weight is on the locks and no pressure on the lines. That way if you have a big project it can sit there off the ground without any stress.

The lift is right at 20”. Not great but when on the lift with the hood open I have less than a foot to the ceiling in its current location. Their are many other scissor jacks that lift higher but most all I have seen encroach on the underside of the car and generally are one piece affairs that goes from one side of the car to the other, eliminating for me clutch and exhaust work.

I see no need for you to explain why you bought the lift.

And here's why I say that:
I just bought a 4-post lift for my shop. Tad bit more $ than what you paid (actually quite a bit).

Why?

Because I wanted it!

I don’t mind the questions, as I have wanted a lift I could walk under forever but too tight to spend the bucks and that was when I had a 28x40 garage. It could still happen but space would really be tight in the 2 car garage with a lift. I have been on the fence about a low rise lift like this for a long time but the price pushed me over the edge.

This lift is designed and sold by Bendpak lifts so the quality is good and I was impressed with how evenly and fast it raised the car. Given its design, I have already seen that here is great potential to make a platform to fit into the top of the lift to pick up the Valkyrie and my zero turn Scag Turf Tiger. Now this post is really Valkyrie related!

In my research for the auto lift Bendpak was one of the best!

We're thinking on the same level. I also have intentions of "Bohemian modifying" to lift my mowers and bike (and scooter).
If it works for the bike I'll be able to get rid of my bike lift (which is modified to lift my mowers but, it's "foot operated").

Gosh, I thought you were taller than that.  Wink

Actually, I just gave up my two post lift and am already missing it.  If you have the room and ceiling height, you will never regret getting one.

Well, I'm sure the dude that bought my shop won't mind if you go get it.  Just tell him I said it was okay.

No, I bought it in 2010. I have seen quite a few museum deliveries during visits to the NCM though and it is a memorable experience I’m sure. I never felt I could afford the depreciation hit on a new Corvette so I let someone else break it in for me. cooldude

On a similar note, I waited a long time to decide on the right C5 for me and once I did it became obvious that locating the right car was going to be tougher than I thought. I located my car In Oklahoma City, flew out for a inspection and drove it home that day. A very enjoyable 800 mile ride home and even though it’s not a daily driver it has been trouble free.

A C7 could be in my future as I really like the convertibles with the power top, only time will tell. Now I really want a C8 but doubt I’ll live that long.

I had a C6 vert but it was a 1lt with a manual top I traded it in for the C7 Grand Sport coupe and my mother gave me a hard time for trading it in she said she would have bought it from me.  I knew my mother did really want a manual top car but she shocked my when a week later she bought a new C7 Grand Sport vert.  I picked up her car at Kerbeck in AC and drive it down to FL for her I actually had to stop in VA for it's first oil change at 500 miles.  BTW my mother was 78 at the time this was a couple years ago she was the talk of town for a bit.

And I thought my mom was kool when she bought her new Regal Turbo. She was 87 at the time. Still one of the sportier ladies in her Sunday School class having just turned 91 and going where she wants in turbo Buick. However if would have been really nice if she had settled on a new Grand Sport vert.
