So I got this friend Sam. Known him for 30+ years, the kind of friend that will do anything for you.
His wife has fought cancer twice in the last 5-6 years and is in remission now.
Before my hip surgery, I stopped at their house one Saturday morning. Sam & I we’re having a coffee on the deck and she came out and asked if she could have a ride on my bike sometime. Now, she comes off a little prissy, not a bike riding girl. I said sure, anytime. So we agreed after I was riding again it would happen.
Today was the day! I rolled in at the agreed upon time, went over ground rules and away we went.
I stopped after 5 miles and asked if she was good, she said this is a blast! Can we keep going? Hell yeah we can! We stopped for a pic at the Woodstock Fair to prove to hubby we really went that far.

I asked again, want to keep going? She replied can we? We cruised all my favorite roads in eastern CT, then back into MA on some great back roads.
Now, I am very aware I had precious cargo aboard, she’s still weakened from the cancer and the treatments, so I took care and barely broke the speed limit.  angel
3 hours into this ride, I needed gas, so I headed back to her house.
She dismounted, took the helmet off and asked when can we do this again with an ear to ear grin. That made it all worth it.
She had never been on a bike before, and has come up with a whole new bucket list since she’s been sick, that one is crossed off now!
Ride safe all,
Craig

Good on you Craig.  cooldude  Good helmet/shield choice.

My mom had a Harley (Italian 125cc 2stroke Rapido, a 360 Honda, and finally a 250 Vespa).

Dad rode too and they rode together, but he quit so she would quit (she was always a bit wobbly, but undeterred).  She didn't want to quit.

Sweet. You are a good man. Its really nice when you can put a smile on someone. Reminds me when our cma group would do nursing home visits. And we would take those who wanted to around the parking lot. They wouldn't let us take them off the property. But it was a great day. I know you left there with a smile on your face that will last for a long time.

I sure hope she called up Sam her husband at least a few times to make sure you did not run off with her wife for good..... Grin

I would be a bit leery of taking someone out on my cycle for the first time, not for my sake, but for theirs.  I drive a lot more sensible (and slower) with the wife on back vs. going it alone.    Some of the corners and even straightaways she yells at me for going too fast and to me is not as fast as going it alone for sure while I would say I am a normal average speed rider is all, not super fast as some are.

Heck, on Friday driving my scooter home from work,  I even let a Harley Davdison pass me up on a steeper hill me doing about 72 mph in a 55.  Never knew a HD could do 75 mph up hill.....   2funny  I was just waiting for him to get a ticket down the hill doing 20 over since the local cop sometimes sits down the other side of the hill, no luck this time.  I passed 2 cars going uphill and then moved on over is a 2-laner going uphill since saw him struggling and chugging to get by me.  He had to earn that one since I figured over 75 mph was not worth a speeding ticket, let him get it....

Those very First rides fer newbies Most-NOT all-times are rather special. Good on you Craig and her husband for allowing it to happen. If a female is attached to another I need his/hers official okey dokey before the newby gits on. And I also take it easy BUT I give them a heads up for a launch. PRAYERS up from The Missouri Ozarks that the Pretty Lady STAYS in Remission.  angel Who sez Dreams don't come true? RIDE SAFE.

Thanks all, I also had a great day & wanted to share it with my friends here. Good news/stories don’t come along often enough, just wanted to add one more.

I like taking people for their first ride. Enjoy showing them what we all know & love. I always behave unless I hear FASTER from behind me  cooldude

O2S & cookiedough, both spouses approved the ride, no worries there.

Rob, no Chinese, all she wanted to do was ride. Not even an ice cream stop!
