For those who have ridden around the south bronx or havent
The Cross Bronx Expressway (there is an oxymoron) is Interstate 95

I get on Westbound at Jerome Ave and stay in the acceleration/exit lane for 87 north which is the next exit about 1/4 mile,  on my way back to the office from Court.  I do this maybe 4 days a week almost always around noon-1pm.  Then I take 87 north to either E 233 St or McLean Ave depending on my mood

I am in that same right exit lane with heavy traffic moving in 2nd gear under 20 mph when a black Camry livery vehicle hits my bmw police bike from the left side.  I have no idea why he did that as it is a highly visible motorcycle.

I did not go down, did not hit the car in front and stopped at the right side of my lane with him next to me in the next lane. I  put the kickstand down and jumped off stating various expletives to the driver   I told him to pull in front of me and wrote down his info including license etc.

He poop a brick when I gave him my card showing I am an attorney.

The extent of the damage?  The bmw circular emblem on the left saddlebag was missing. That is it !!   The crash bar did its thing absorbed the hit and was not damaged. There was no damage which I  verified by pushing the bike to warp speed later in the afternoon on my way to a closing in Tarrytown

Then when I got home I poured a shot of that Bourbon that Hotglue sent me (yes I still have a few ounces left Mark) then on further reflection I opened a bottle of 21 year Glenlivet I got as a present many years ago  Seemed like the proper thing to do as what better occasion than NOT getting offed. I said a prayer of thanks before sipping a few shots and then all was well.

May all your rides have a happy ending   As the pilot told me, any landing where you can re use the plane again is a good landing

Glad both you and the Beemer are none the worse for wear. If one's going to have an incident on a bike, that's the type of outcome we could all hope for.
Now, about your sign off there at the end..."may all your rides have a happy ending"... Roll Eyes

Glad you're OK!  I'm still dealing with health and insurance bs from my rear end accident in July.  One split second space out on the kid's part has resulted in months of appointments.

Glad you are ok Evan. Those BMW emblems can get expensive. One cost my buddy $125 in Ireland a few years ago.

NYC has nothing on Atlanta for bad traffic.

I was kind of nervous riding a GW rental from Howard Beach to Oss's and back a few years ago. But it really wasn't that bad at all. Riding thru Houston or L.A. was much worse in my opinion.

You need to consider general surface condition, road width and layout, then throw in frost.

Some of the roads have decades of pothole patch, on pothole patch.

Fortunately  you could consume the beverage  by sipping  or shooting and not restricted to using a straw with someone  holding it for you.  Just way too many oblivious people out here.
