The Landmass Between Mobile And New Orleans

« on: December 03, 2009, 08:28:44 PM »

Forecast for Friday night is 1-3" of snow in South Mississippi.  By the time I get to the grocery store, there probably won't be any a'tall.

Forecasts call for 1 to 3 inches here as well......  That will shut down EVERYTHING.  Especially if there is a little thaw and a freeze Friday night.  Sooooo many elevated hiways(some overpasses go elevated for miles) in the Houston area.... they will ice over.... then you can watch the slow motion crashes on the morning news.
I'll be warm and cozy... watchin it on TV.. cooldude
BTW.... The norm is a little snow once every 20 years or so...... this will be the 3rd snow in 5 years.....WERE THE H3LL IS THAT GLOBAL WARMING????

...we got about 1/2 inch last night up here in Saginaw Mi...we can't really call it snow yet, this would be just a dusting ...I can see where the snow must be a novel thing down south, hope all the kid's get the day off from school and all build those "hereday" snowmen (here today gone tomorrow) ....up here we have all the snowmobile folks all drooling and polishing their sleds waiting for the big stuff to hit...we used to have Winter Wonderland printed on our license plates, Michigan can be a beautiful place in any season...it's all in the state of mind...

Well Taz, we on the other side of the state got around 3-4" and it is supposed to continue all day.  There is about a 1/2" of ice under the snow so we have accidents pretty much everywhere.  I thought I was gonna hit a city bus coming into work today.  Winter is here in West Michigan!

Hi Charlie...yeah we're supposed to have snow all day ,but the ground up here is still kinda warm so I don't think it will stick around to long, I could be wrong maybe it's here for the duration ,weatherman is calling for temp's in the twenties for a few days...and the ice is a problem...wish I owned a wrecker service right now....

I understand what you mean about snow in an area not used to snow shutting down with small snow falls. I have never understood why milk and bread are what everyone buys, are they making french toast?

I had a beautiful ride in today, but the sun was behind clouds that remind me of snow clouds. THey're calling for rain tomorrow, but I'm wondering if we won't see something a little harder/colder here in NC. We'll have to wait and see.

hey hotglue, you guys are really lucky.  enjoy the snow while it lasts!  up here (unlike michigan) it just gets really cold, sometimes no snow, just really cold!  michigan gets the lake effect snow which makes winter enjoyable cause you can get the sleds out at least!  there's something about getting an internal combustion engine running when there's snow out! example, snow-blower, snow-mobile, 4wheeling with the truck, hitting the gass and making the back end swing around while your wife freaks out!!!

i know the kids are excited!  (and some adults)  that's the great!

I never did understand the milk and bread thing.  If I am going to get snowbound, I want steak, potatoes, beer, etc.

Ya know Dave, I don't understand it either.  Happens when hurricanes roll in too.  I've usually got a couple of loaves in the freezer so I never have to worry.

When I lived in NC, storm severity was in terms of "one loafers" or "two loafers"
