I work in Downtown Houston and it is snowing. We don't see snow often, on the news last night it said that it has only snowed in Houston proper 33 times in history. The most snow being in 1895 when Houston got 20" of snow. That is what they said on the news last night.

FB, BJ Hay here, Same here, it is pouring down snow and beautiful. I had taken the day off for errands and its been a perfect day to stay home(Hayhauler is at work). So glad it is starting to stick to the ground. I still have some errands to run but will do it very slowly. I still have to bring some plants in first. I know all the northerners(Dallas and up) are laughing at us in our excitement, but I am really glad I don't have to worry about driving on freeways or bridges, it will really be a mess. Everyone be safe and stay warm. BJ Hay

I was in Houston for the Foley Parade, Thanksgiving in maybe 1994 or 1995. I was with a marching band from NC. I was a high school freshman. It was colder than we expected Texas to be, so we were all wearing layers of short sleaved shirts and light jackets trying to stay warm as we practiced and explored Houston. I remember struggling to keep the instruments in pitch with the whistling cold air at the competition and exhibition. Then the parade, we were standing in a bank parking lot in our uniforms, which were light weight and snug, so we couldn't layer much under them and the wind was whistling and whipping between buildings. I remember we were right before a national cheerleading group in line in the parade, so they too were in the bank parking lot. I distinctly remember being huddled into a drive-through awning trying to keep the cheerleaders warm with body heat because they were going numb. About then is when the snow started falling. It was a memorable moment, although I don't know what year. We fell into formation and lined up in the street with the snow falling lightly. It didn't stick, but it was odd to see come down around us. It did eventually stop as we marched the parade route, but it snowed on us at the beginning of the parade.
It must have warmed up at some point in the route, although it was still cold, becase we were behind a caravan of circus animals, and I had to macrch through elephant poop. I nearly lost a shoe in that muck. I tossed out those socks when we got to the hotel. They weren't worth saving.
Good times.
Snowing in Houston should be memorable.

...Okay now that you guy's are getting a taste of northern weather...let me help y'all out with some Northern terminology...it's not "pouring down snow " it's called "snow flurries" if you look out the window and can't see the driveway its called a "snowstorm" if you see the dog house is buried under a foot of snow it's called a "blizzard" now here is where it gets tricky...if your standing outside and can't see your hand in front of your face it's called a "whiteout"....go back inside, open up your favorite beverage and wait it out...down there it shouldn't be to long and things will be back to normal...in the mean time us northerners will sit back and snicker...have fun enjoy the beautiful "snowscapes" make some "snowmen" maybe a "snowangel" (lay on your back in fresh snow and move your hands and legs back and forth side by side then get up and look at what you made) have a "snowball fight" or if you get enough snow build a "snow fort" when your done sit in front of a warm fire with your special someone and have some hot chocolate and enjoy the company....at least that's what some of us northerner's like to do...or just forget all of that and b!%@#$ about it and be pissed off at the world... ...LOL.....

Well... our event may be over.... and the snow that was gathering on the grass has melted..... maybe we could make cold mud angels... Kinda sleeting now.... but the weather guessers are saying we may get more snow, and the temp has dropped 10 f since this morning....so now we are looking at icy roads tonight....

The only term I know for this is (*&^%&*^$^&ing cold! Seriously, if nothing else, I love watching my 3 year old in this. Kids love snow, no matter how little there is, and when it's a once every 10 years treat, they love it more.
