Boo! Hiss!!!!! ROLL TIDE!!!!!!! Not an Alabama fan... except this week, but I am always a fan of whoever plays the Goiters. Living just 40 miles south of G'ville us non-Goiter fans must put up with the insufferable Goiter fans & their non-sense waaaay more than anyone should have to. Only thing more obnoxious than a Goiter fan in defeat is one in victory! I'm sure fans of any other schools in the SEC know what I'm talking about. Good Lord, the Tebow worship stuff is out of hand around here. Helluva college QB but I don't see him in the NFL as a QB. He'll get killed with his sloooow release! Unfortunetly it doesn't look to me like Alabama or Texas has the ability to knock them off. I'm reduced to hoping for an upset. ROLL TIDE!!!! Then if no dice.... HOOK 'EM HORNS!!!!!! Sorry, having a bad football year... I am an FSU Noles, USF Bulls & Tampa Bay Bucs fan. Not doing too well lately!

I hear ya about the sign! Us 'Nole fans were sad to se Spurrier go. He was soooo much fun to beat! I'm not sure about Tebow's NFL future. Nobody runs the spread in the NFL, too much speed & talent on defenses for it to work there. You can time Tebows relaease with a sundial, that'll get him killed or intercepted a whole bunch in the NFL. I think he would be a good tight end or H-back. Time will tell!

Last year when the Gators played Alabama for the SEC Championship was the first time in my life I was a Tide fan...Looks like I'll be a Tide fan one more time for 2009. I'm from Tennessee and my blood runs orange maybe someday we'll get to that level again

see.......like one of the gentlemen up above (Tropic Traveler).....i'm a die-hard AUBURN fan. Casual Auburn fans.....root for Auburn FIRST......then, for them.....it's ok to root for Alabama IF they aren't playing Auburn. but.......DIE-HARD Auburn fans, root for Auburn first, then root FOR whoever is playing Alabama to BEAT ALABAMA (likewise, DIE-HARD Alabama fans have that same ......eh......disgust, for Auburn...and root for who ever Auburn is playing to beat us!). So, i must say..............................even though i have ZERO interest in the Gators.........since they're playing Bama.........Auburn's arch nemesis............ GO GATORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!(this will all make perfect sense to REAL Auburn and Alabama fans...as well as the gentlemen who similarly dislikes FLorida above .....and probably little sense to all others ) <<Tropic Traveler....both my wife and i graduated from UCF for our undergrad degrees....just ordered me some football jerseys from UCF for CHristmas...as well as jerseys from SMU....where i got my Masters. Go Knights......go Mustangs!>>

I'm not a Gator or Tide fan, so I'm not sure who to pull for. FL is in our half of the conference so I'll pull for them. But, I don't like to see any team win ALL the time, so I'll pull for Bama. I, too, am tired of hearing Tebow's name but he has done great things on and off the field so I'll pull for FL. When I was a little bitty bashulbob, the first thing I ever remember about college football is seeing Bear Bryant walking the sideline with his hat and coat. That image still sticks with me, so I'll pull for Bama. Any way we can get TCU and Cincinnati in the championship?!

Dave do you know something know one else knows? No bowl games have been decided yet...and won't be announced until THIS sunday. What's your scoop? I wish Auburn got in the Outback bowl, but, i doubt they'll land THAT good of a bowl game, honestly. My two teams i actually went to school at...UCF and SMU...are both also projected to go to Bowl games. Alas, those won't be major bowls no doubt either. But hey, especially for SMU....just getting to a bowl game is a MAJOR accomplishment for them! in fact, i think it's the first bowl game in some 25 years for SMU? June Jones came in from Hawaii and took over SMU this year...and has done a pretty good job. but UCF and SMU aint no Bama. Not even on par with Auburn. Hey, i'll give credit where it's due......Nick Saban is one HECK of a recruiter...and has indeed built one heck of a football team in Bama! But i still have to root against them

Auburn set to play in Outback Bowl on New Year's Day By Charles Goldberg -- The Birmingham News December 01, 2009, 12:37PM 15Auburn4.jpgGene Chizik: New Year's Day bowl in first year Auburn is set to play in the Outback Bowl in Tampa on New Year's Day, according to people familiar with the bowl process. An official announcement may come later today.
Auburn appears to have emerged as one of the big winners among the six SEC teams that finished with 7-5 records, sending Gene Chizik to a New Year's Day game in his first year as the Tigers' coach.
Auburn may play Wisconsin out of the Big Ten. The Outback has the third choice among teams from the Big Ten. The Badgers are ranked 17th nationally and will take an 8-3 record into a Saturday game at Hawaii. Another possibility is Northwestern, which is 8-4. Northwestern beat Wisconsin 33-31 on Nov. 21, the last game for both teams.
The Outback usually picks an SEC East team, but chose Auburn out of the West. Teams have spent the last three days jockeying for bowl position. Tennessee, which had lobbied for the Outback, may now play in the Chick fil-A Bowl in Atlanta.
The Outback is for early rises -- it kicks off at 10 a.m,. Alabama time.
Tennessee, which had designs on the Outback, will instead play Virginia Tech in the Chick fil-A Bowl, sources told the Knoxville News-Sentinel.

The Outback Bowl and Auburn By Dave Heller of the Journal Sentinel Dec. 2, 2009
As some of you commented on another post - and I was off yesterday else I likely would have had a blog on it instead of now - the Outback Bowl has apparently decided to go with Auburn for its choice of its SEC team. Wisconsin is also expected to be tabbed as well - the official announcement will be Sunday [UPDATE - ESPN.com's Adam Rittenberg has comments from the Outback Bowl CEO which makes it seem like the Big Ten school - Wisconsin or Northwestern - is still up in the air].
The pick, to say the least, was a bit shocking. If for no other reason than Auburn becomes the first SEC West team to play in Tampa since 1997.
Charlie Roberts of al.com tries to give some reasons why Auburn was picked - and quite frankly none of them cut the mustard. Ticket sales? So Tennessee doesn't bring people? And ticket sales is not a criteria which is supposed to be used anyway. Better TV audience. Really? Auburn? Auburn brings some excitement because Wisconsin is boring (his words, not mine). FYI - the QB and RB stats are about equal, and Auburn has played one more game. They don't want the bowl game to be about Lane Kiffin, plus Tennessee played there two years ago. I can see the latter, not the former.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Bill King thinks its because the Outback Bowl wants a team that hasn't been there in a while (in that 1997 game it was Alabama who played, not Auburn, so it has been quite a while for the Tigers).
Who knows why the Outback chose Auburn. It's not official - but Auburn certainly is doing very little to make one think otherwise, already offering tickets to the game.

ok..........BamaDrifter64.............i stand corrected. The Outback bowl for Auburn it is. YOU WERE RIGHT!!!!!! i'm actually thrilled Auburn got in a Bowl this year...and even more so THIS bowl. as for Bama, i still hate em'. BUT......i have to hand it to them, they are a GREAT team, and played a FANTASTIC game beating Florida. But.......now i have to root for Texas Truthfully, i'm more of an NFL fan.......than college. College games are a "hobby" to me. NFL games...and my NFL team....that's what i "live and die" by. I get over a college loss pretty fast. Not so much so NFL games......

I'm a diehard Bama fan, so I should be pulling for Northwestern....don't know if I can put my Southern heritage aside to pull for them though.... Dave
