Well not really I could have easily sped up or slowed down to avoid this guy but I chose to use the 139 db instead.
I was on my way to church on the bike. Just cruising under the speed limit even through town on a four lane. I was in the fast lane slowly passing the slow pokes in the right lane. All was good. I like to make eye contact with divers as I am passing them so I know they see me.
Well this old guy was not going to turn his head and make eye contact. He barely looked alive. Putting along in the right lane. Totally unaware of anything else in the universe apparently. I say that because as I got out of the “blind spot” area and now right along side him I was thinking ok good out of his blind spot. His window was down and I’m right there 5 feet from his face, he decided to change lanes. Holy crap are you kidding me. So now is when I decide to blast the stebil. Wow. Talk about a wake up. That old dude popped awake, moved back in his lane eyes wide open and making eye contact.
I felt bad because he was visibly shaken but you know as hard as it must be to accept he should not be driving. Hopefully he will look for or see motorcycles better now if he keeps driving.
If he got scared enough maybe he will turn in his keys. Probably not.

I’m very thankful my FIL gave up driving before he killed someone. It’s very hard to give up your independence.

Right after I replaced the "anemic" stock horn with a nice Rivco air horn set I was riding east on highway 30 out of New Haven coming up on the 469 interchange. I moved over to the left lane to make room for a car coming off the cloverleaf when she decides she wants the left lane. Her window was down when I let her have it with a blast from that horn. She about killed herself getting back into her lane. The look on her face when I passed her was priceless....

Chris, I've been there numerous times myself. One woman looked right at me as I passed and still insisted on coming over. I had blasted her a number of times to no avail until a semi behind her let her have it. He wasn't trying to pass, just saw what was happening and intervened on my behalf. The traffic wasn't letting me continue past so was stuck. She then moved back to the right and glared at me as I moved on.

I had a high school student in my classes several years ago. Her bookbag had an outline map of Florida on it with the caption: "Where America goes to die."

Young uns texting here bouts have gotten-well to them anywho-rude wake up calls from my air horn. I've also gotten That like Why T F you buggin me look? On multi lanes So Far everyone has swered away from me. So far so good! Gal gave me hell at a light after I air horned her. Told her the air horn was The much lesser of the evils I had with me. She rolled up her window and did NOT bother me again. Fixin to put one or two air horns on my Grand Prix. RIDE SAFE.

I either exceed the limit, or slow down to find empty holes to ride in (in traffic).
There's no percentage in riding next to or among them if you don't have to (any longer than necessary).

I had three bikes with the Wolo Bad Boy compact horn, one with traditional dual trumpet horn and one with both the Wolo Bad Boy AND the Wolo Big Bad Max. I’ve woken up more than a few oblivious drivers with my air horn. Most of them get that surprised look like they had no idea what was going on. But there is one story I always remember.
There is an intersection I would go thru every day on the way to work with a side street that enters from left but at an angle. I know that majority of folks to do not stop at that stop sign since it’s almost straight ahead for them and they are too lazy to look back over their right shoulder. I expect it when ever I see someone headed that way and I can peek thru before the church on the corner and know when there is someone on that road.
I was on my way to work one morning about 5:30. Sure enough, Mr. Zombie was headed too fast towards the stop sign. I gave him a shot from the Wolo Bad Boy just as he was getting there. He went thru the stop but stayed left and jerked back over to the shoulder/lawn/ditch on the left side of the road then corrected and made it into the correct travel lane behind me. Lost him for a minute but then he caught up a couple miles down the road and blew his horn and gave a finger as he passed me.
But at that time of the morning, I think it’s a better than even chance he was coming from the local McD’s and had a fresh and hot coffee in his hands. I expect he ended up spilling that in his lap. At least I like to think he did. As a minimum, he certainly thought for a moment there was a logging truck bearing down on him.

I agree. Moving in relation to the cars is a good thing. That’s why I was slowly passing was not in a rush. It was was just one of those things. All the other drivers made eye contact with me as I cruised by.

I can directly relate. My FIL lives with us, and right now I am trying to sell his car after his doctor did the right thing and pulled his licence. I found the car for him back in June, being careful to find one for which the controls were almost exactly the same as his previous car.

My MIL (that we moved in with) is on that slippery slope, but to date, I haven't seen a reason to get her license pulled. Remembering where it is - that's a different story <sigh>

Before I git a bunch o f flack remember I don't live That far from Arkansas. From what I've observed in Arkansas-18 wheeler cage and M/c-speed limit signs and Stop signs appear at best for locals anywho as Suggestions! Gittin thataway here in the ShoMe. And to add to our-Willow Springs-local ills a new Loves T/S opening on the east of of town here soon. But as to the O/P keep that gourd on a swivel and keep that front brake lever ready fer Immediate action. A carry over from my Navy and my Trucking days-Always expect the most stupid possible action by the other driver. I'm rarely disappointed when the other guy/gal do do exactly the wrong thing! RIDE SAFE.

My Mother was 92 and still driving when her insurance bill came in. She said will you look at how much they went up on my insurance, do you think it's my age? She decided for herself that she did not want to pay that much for the coverage and I was in total agreement and promptly sold her car.
