Finished going through the old dirt bike today. Rebuilt the carbs
and found someone had the primary and secondary main jets in
the wrong carbs. Gotta love when someone tries to fix something
and puts it back together backwards. Runs like a Honda should
now. Not bad for sitting since 1987. Now to fix the aggravating
flickering temperature light on my 99 Valk. Ordering the new
Thermostatic switch and jumping the wire doing away with the
box under the left side cover. I know it's not running hot but that
cursed light gets on my nerves.

cooldude  I've thought about it. My legs are probably just as good of
a temp sensor than what's in it now.

As you probably know some had a problem as you described. I had the light on my IS come on once but it was about 105*   But went off quickly and never cane on again.  My ‘97 standard Bee has. Ever had the light come on. Even sitting still in 100* temps.

Mine started several years ago. It would flicker a few times then stay off. I bookmarked a tech board thread describing the fix. Last time out it flickered then came on constantly I was a mile from home so pulled up to my building and it took 5 minutes for the fan to come on. It cut off like normal. I wouldn't
even fool with it but I have a disease call Analitis.  Grin  Little things like that bug the crap out of me.

I am hoping it is the Thermo sensor and or temperature indicator unit malfunctioning that the 97-99 standards and tourers are known to have. Easy to change it over to the new thermostatic switch that Honda swapped  to in 2000-03. Only problem I have ever had with it.

This is what I bookmarked from the Tech Board showing the fix.
