I am the proud owner of a 2000 Interstate that has recently burned out a couple of bulbs on the Tach and Speedo.  I havent been able to find any directions or procedure to replace.  I did see a posting about changing them out to the Sylvania bulbs but not how to do it.  Any help would be much appreciated.

got mine at Oreilly's I think the bulbs are 70 or 74. I can't remember and the bike is at home but they're very small bulbs. Maybe someone else can chime in.

I tried all of the recommended non-oem replacement bulbs and didn't like the fit of any of them.  The replacement bulbs were much smaller than the stock bulbs and didn't fit in the holder correctly.  I felt they would rattle around too much and possibly fall out of the holders.  So, I ordered the stock bulbs from the dealer and put those in.

I just changed the four bulbs on the instrument because the multi-display was had to see at night.   The bulbs I bought were Wagner #74's.  The whole instrument panel looks like new now.

Experience suggests it doesn't matter so much how you got here, as what you do after you arrive.

I didn't try any other bulbs.  I just ordered stock ones and used those.  It looks like new now.

Thats strange because on my Interstates they are soildered in . The hole cluster had to be removed. Was a prety good job.

That is really strange!  The bulbs should be pushed into a bulb holder (the bulbs are a bayonet style) and the holder is then a "push turn" that holds it in place.

Sounds like someone couldn't find the correct replacement bulb and did a little modifying.

No I stand corected it was a turn signal bulb and they are soldered in .
