Well going to repair the broke tab on my alternator cover and remove the chrome and paint it. Cover was cracking in several places. Had some stainless steel with the mirror finish and made me a cover. Had to use part of the old cover. Cut off the part that fits into the rubber gramlet on the top. The piece I used already had the 3m tape on it so it is held in place at the top and drilled a hole big enough to bolt it at the top. Couple of pictures

Very nice! I just rattle-can painted mine matte black to make it not stand out so much, but my bikes are definitely not show bikes either...

Back in the day there was a VRCC member that made alternator covers out of sheet metal. I have one of his on the shelve.

Very nice!  I have been thinking of trying to do something with stainless for the alt cover on my bike.  That proves it can work.
