I used to feel a strong patriotic feeling about Canada. Even got a maple leaf tattoo.

That’s long gone. Not sure what it would take to get it back. A change in government alone won’t do it. We just don’t have anything in common with eastern Canada or Vancouver area.  Not only do we not have anything in common, they actually go out of their way to cripple us while taking our money...they don’t try to hide it, feel no shame about it, it appears they actually enjoy it.

I still feel pride in the history of Canada, the accomplishments of our military, etc. But, other than that, the pride in the flag, the anthem...pretty much gone.

I am a SK/Prairie boy first. Canadian is way down the list, somewhere below Honda Rider or guy with a beard.

I really didn't hold out much hope in the election...even if the Conservatives under the stewardship of the spineless Andrew Scheer had been elected, they too have bent over for the enviro/globalist/socialist world view. Harper was our last best hope. As an Albertan, I no longer consider Canada my country. The message is being sent to Jason Kenny very clearly that if he doesn't get going on financially separating us from Canada, we will replace him with someone who will. The anger runs way deeper than 1980 under the first Trudeau.
 
British people are holding fast to the Brexit they voted for three years ago. I am sure Westerners, including Saskatchewan and maybe Manitoba can show just as much resolve...under the right Organization and Leadership.
Quebec has been bragging again about their $4B budget surplus, but without the transfer money theft from the West, that would be an $11B deficit. It really is time for the West to leave...coastal BC not included!!!

It's time they fight their own fiscal battles now. They strangled the Western Pipeline Golden Goose that they hate so much, so now it's time for them to go pound sand. It will be tough to import Saudi Oil when the Progressive Piggy Bank is empty.

I think the leeches out East are going to fight tooth and nail to continue their freeloading ways because they have the weight of their dominant population. This last national election has demonstrated to the West that it is finally time to drive a spike through the heart of this Lopsided Unholy Union.

Until you realize that Quebec and Ontario hold 2/3rds of the seats in Parliament and that means that they need to be coddled, the faster you will understand that the old ways of looking at the world will no longer do.  Times are a changing and we all need to change with it or get left behind. 
Yes, man made climate change is bull$hit, but when the majority of people believe it because of the gov't.  Not much you can do.  The Alberta gov't will start chaging it soon when they realize the money to be made. 
Separating is not the answer because you already saw what a NDP gov't can do to a province.  One of those while a country and you will bankrupt you in no time.
Alberta may be riding high right now, but having an economy based on one item can spell disaster real fast if the market changes.  In simpler terms, you are in a family of 11.  You have a good job and everything is going great.  But, you tire of your siblings always asking for money, so you decide to move away and disown your family, so that you are no longer bothered by them.  A few years down the road you loose your job and can't find another one.  Good luck getting money from your family that you disowned.

Make sure that you keep sending those payments to Ottawa.  I retire soon from cushy high paying job with the federal gov't and I need it to cover my pension.  It's a big pension, so I will need lots of money.
