Livin' Better Side of The Great Divide

Searching for a consensus on cleaning a stock seat with saddle soap and then treating it with another product that softens and preserves leather for the long, cold, dry winter ahead? Undecided
Are they 100% leather or are they a man made material?
Thank you if you chime in.

Vinyl can be cleaned with a little soap and water.  When dry you can rub (very) small amounts of mink oil into it, and use a toothbrush on the sewn seams.  Not much (just dab fingers to can), and only use your fingers, no rag.  Bring it in to warm house and let it sit, and later it can be buffed with a shoe brush (it's not going to be shiny though).  It keeps it soft and supple (as it can be).

Same with leather seats, and leather riding gear.

What you never use is Armor-All which is about looks, not preservation.

If you use too much, it will come off on your pants, later.

I’ve always used a spray vinyl cleaner/protector. Cleans and protects from UV. Mink oil is for leather

Mink oil is better than vinyl cleaner.  But use very little.

This is all good advice. But be aware that vinyl is life-limited depending on it's history. If it's been cleaned consistently with ammonia based cleaners, it's been harmed all along. Sun exposure is the big killer. Vinyl loses it's elastomers and gets brittle.

I've never had much success trying to restore vinyl. I just tell them they have to reupholster....
