Assassination of John F. Kennedy
John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States, was assassinated on November 22, 1963, at 12:30 p.m. Central Standard Time in Dallas, Texas, while riding in a presidential motorcade through Dealey Plaza. Kennedy was riding with his wife Jacqueline, Texas Governor John Connally, and Connally's wife Nellie when he was fatally shot by former U.S. Marine Lee Harvey Oswald firing in ambush from a nearby building. Governor Connally was seriously wounded in the attack. The motorcade rushed to Parkland Memorial Hospital where President Kennedy was pronounced dead about 30 minutes after the shooting; Connally recovered.

I was three years old when this happened however IMO the last true democrat to hold office in the White House.  He would not recognize that party today.

Agreed!  cooldude

I was working for Xerox at the time in the Chicago area and was on a service call. Suddenly the receptionist came running past, crying uncontrollably and screaming something about Kennedy has been shot. That office was in total turmoil within minutes, I finished my work and left. He wasn't the last Democrat I ever voted for, but my personal opinion is he was the last one worth voting for.

When it was announced where I was working at the time it came over the P A system and all I could hear-I was a machinist at that time-was the numerous air leaks in the system. A stunned look on every ones face summed it up. We released early and I sat in my car about 20-30 minutes before I took off for home. Not quite 3 months later I joined The U S Navy. We lost a True Warrior/Statesman that terrible day.  Cry RIDE SAFE.

I was almost 6 years old and didn’t know much of anything about the president. But, I remember vividly where I was when it happened. My Dad was stationed in Montgomery, Alabama. My Mom was driving a black ‘61 Ford Falcon with me in the front seat. (No seat belts or child seats) It came on the radio and she started crying.
I’m not so sure about him being the last true democrat president, but I do believe he was a good one. I wish his brother Bobby had also not have been killed. We might have been better off instead of tricky dick.

I was in class in first grade. Called everyone out in the hall to hear the PA system and they announced it. All the teachers were crying.

Hits close to home as the last place he spoke in public and the assassination site are both about 20 miles away from my house (I am in the middle of the 2 locations).  I was in 2nd grade and all the teachers were crying - we were sent home early.  Per my mom, whenever we traveled out of state for the next couple of years, people would comment about how Texas killed JFK when they saw our license plates.

I remember the day

A national tragedy of the highest order. We were never the same in so many ways.

And I have his inauguration speech on the wall in my office and the Warren Commission report at my folks house.

I was on an airplane landing in Washington DC, I was just coming back from White Sands, New Mexico when the announcement came over the PA.  When we landed the airport was in a frantic mode, military people all over the place, including myself, a very sad day in the lives of many.

Aged 8. I was at a neighborhood party next door to our house in Sennelager, Germany. The women started crying and the army guys started muttering among themselves.

Well you got folks from California pouring in like ticks on a dog getting out of that state only to try and make Texas like California. Y'all got a huge blue wave coming need to deal with it ASAP in my opinion.

My uncle was the one who jumped on the back of the car and pushed Jackie back in. When they got to the hospital he put his jacket over the president to shield him from onlookers.

I was on the fantail of my ship US Kawishiwi AO146 in Pearl Harbor when we got the news. Dead silence for quite some time, a great man indeed.

he had also signed an executive order taking the printing of money away from the federal reserve and back to congress per the constitution before he was killed.  First thing Johnson did after being sworn in was sign another executive order rescinding kennedy's order.

both state johnson didn't change it and it is still active. I read yrs ago, early internet, that he did change it, links state he just didn't enforce it. Kennedy did sign the EO.
always interesting that the SS agent started wiping down the back seat where Kennedy was sitting removing all evidence of the direction the bullet came from.

7th grade I think.
Walking down a walkway in school between classes. Girls that were walking toward us were all in tears. They told us he had just been shot.
