Currently running an old Cooper 2xS which needs replacing due to age. Anyone running an UHP tire? Searched through the group but found zero info... not interested in an all weather tire, winter tire, or truck tire.
Living in central Flori-duh so the cold isn't an issue. Much more interested in the larger contact path and wet weather performance than longevity.
205/55 seems to be the only size with anything of a selection (which is fine), some have a more rounded profile than others (considering the Cooper was flat, it is an improvement) so far I've found the following:
General G-Max RS
Dunlop Dirrezza DZ102
Bridgestone Potenza RE-71R
BFGoodrich G Force Sport Comp2
Yokohama Advan Fleva V701
Kumho Ecsta SPT
Leao Lion Sport UHP (this is the only one I'm iffy on)

I did see that it likely had the 'roundest' profile out of all of them... price seems to be $10 within the General G-Max RS which was the tire I was leaning towards. So I'm guessing you run this tire and like it?

I use a Champiro VP1. I have one waiting in the garage to replace the one that's on my bike. The next tire could well be a Leao Lion. |

no experience, but that federal formoza but in 14 inch size for my suzuki burgmann 650 is the one going to late next year when my bridgestone rear cycle tire is shot. at least with the scooter no rear maintenance needed can stay on for 8+ years probably will last much longer than the bridgestone cycle tire at 10K or so per cycle tire change. |

He probably has many miles on it and would not recommend it if it didn’t perform. Just because it says a truck Tire dont mean squat. And BTW you live in Florida where there are 18 curves every 311 miles so why in double hockey stcks would you ever need an ultra high performance tire? Just asking for the next time I am carving up the twisties in Florida.  Also You say you are replacing your tire due to age? So it seems no matter what tire you put on it wont really matter because you will replace it also not because it is worn out but past its shelf life. Just sayin. |

so i am interested in some of these tires (especially when my rear cost 270), but have the above concern

I've been running various car tires on back, rear tires on front with good effect. I've pretty much settled on a Radar Argonite 195/65 and a Michelin rear Pilot Activ 150/70 on the front.  |

Rear motorcycle tires (new) have like a third to two fifths deeper tread than new fronts.
And are reversed on the rim because of radial (or bias) cord stacking on hard braking (not water dispersal).

Be careful what you assume from others' experiences. Folks tend to say car tire as if they all fall into the same category. They don't. There are many different styles of non-motorcycle specific tires. Some are very good and some are very bad about making a motorcycle handle. If you get a chance ride on someone else's motorcycle equiped with the tire you think you'll buy. If you're pleased then move ahead. If not, keep searching. |
