Some of you may have met my friend Josh  at  VRCC gatherings in Sparta, Pikeville or in WV (he rides an orange VTX 1300).

He went down yesterday on I-81.

He's going to be OK but he's busted up pretty good, broken pelvis and knee.

Prayers, for healing and the ability to still pay his bills while he recovers will be appreciated.

Josh is in the middle:

Is he the same fellow who had the battery crap out on the way back from Yooper ride?

Was he hit?

No that was my buddy Larry on the VTX1800.

Josh was very fortunate that he didn't get ran over.

Witnesses told the state trooper that an 18 wheeler missed running him over by mere inches as he was tumbling down the road.

Mark,

Yes, I remember him. Really sorry to read of his misfortune. Best wishes from sunny Florida... Hope to be back on the road myself shortly... Well, riding upright on the road, that is, not literally 'on the road' as Josh was... Any particulars on why we went down, if known?

Well this weekend was a rough one.

Josh's mental status deteriorated everyday last week and the Dr's are at a loss as to why.

It began going downhill after he had a hypoxic episode during surgery to remove dead skin on his right leg on Monday.

Everyday he became more confused and by Friday he was unable to talk at all.

He went back to surgery on Friday to remove more dead skin and had an even worse episode.

Friday night they began to talk about amputating his right leg.

Sunday they declared that they could wait no longer and they amputated his leg.

Monday he began to have severe abdominal swelling and Monday night they removed a section of his colon that had died.

He has been on a ventilator since Friday and has no idea that any of this is happening.

The Dr's are still unable to explain why he isn't coming around.

He can really use everyone's prayers right now and they will certainly be appreciated.

I'm so very sorry to hear of your friend Josh's accident. Reading the initial post of his situation it did sound more promising. Having an hypoxic event in my opion can be avoided if monitoring the patient correctly and having alarms set accordingly; ( from my 30 yrs of medical sales experience ) but it happens often. I'll ad Josh to our SS prayer list and his family.

Keith it kinda sounds as if he was septic. May e should have gotten rid of dead tissue (ie) the leg sooner.

It is my understanding that a hypoxic episode is lack of oxygen to the brain which leads to possible damage to the brain. This happened during surgery?? Am no Doctor but it seems to have been way worse than his family was led to believe?

Hey bud, I agree but didn't want to make a diagnosis not being a medical professional. However in my mind too maybe internal injuries could of been missed also contributing to sepis. He needs lots of prayer any way you look at it. But the Power of Prayer works.  angel

Mark,

What a sad story! But for the grace of God... All of us at one time or another have had a close brush with just this sort of thing... Fortunately, most of us dodge the bullet and come out of it OK. Josh is not nearly as fortunate as most of the rest of us, myself in particular! I'm truly sorry to follow this story and see how it is unfolding. I do hope things improve dramatically, and that the best outcome for him is exactly happens... In the meantime, I'm doing what I can with the kneemail and positive thoughts... thanks for keeping us updated...
