In Barrington Illinois is a foundation called San Fillipo Foundation or on line Place De La Musik.
They have the worlds largest collection of working music devises , steam engine powered devises ,trains and a merry go round that is 75 feet across. The collection is private. They return a lot of money to charities. There is a theater organ with over seven thousand pipes. The base pipes are 32 feet tall. The organ rises up thru the floor from the basement on a huge screw. Tiffany lamps , Remington statues, violas , calliope.
If you are ever in the area when they have a function going on , do not miss it. We have been going for about 12 years and they are adding many new -old- attractions.
They recently found and bought a store from the late 1800's and moved it to the estate.
  THIS place is mind blowing.

I would love to see the place. We used to take our Daughter to Shriner's Children's Hospital for nearly 20 years until about 8 years ago. We always would look for places to visit while in the Chicago area and this one initially made the list but it isn't a place that is typically open to the public. You can visit for special events and schedule tours for 40 or more.
We typically had time before a surgical procedure to do a weekend in the area before we had to be at the hospital.
Never worked out for us to get there.

But it looks magnificent.
