bottom line these people that were voted in are Americans in name only and are clearly following UN agenda to confiscate all guns from citizens.

His proposed bill did note, “The provisions of this act may result in a net increase in periods of imprisonment or commitment.”

Yep.  When Clinton got the ban on high capacity magazines passed or proposed, I forget which, I went out and bought two.  Never used them but I have them.

Jess, I don't remember what county it was, but one VA county sheriff indicated that he would deputize thousands if necessary to maintain their ability to own guns.

For a long time my policy has been to purchase at least one of anything that gets banned (before the ban goes into effect).  Also, for any new generic anti-gun legislation, I purchase a new gun that strikes my fancy at the time.

RP, I actually mentioned that in one of my posts in another thread.

It's all prelegislation posturing right now.  Another of our politicians came out today (in response to all our good VA 2d amendment pushback; now 75 of 95 counties have passed gun sanctuary resolutions forbidding county police from enforcing new gun laws) and said they would nationalize the Guard to enforce those laws.

Boy is that a bad idea.

And, I'm thinking our Guard could go out looking, and not find any, for months on end.  Finding 20 or 30 politicians in Richmond would be easy though.

Saw that today.

I NEVER thought that I'd see the day when a politician in VA would suggest using the National Guard to infringe upon its citizens Constitutional Rights.

The Dems have completely lost their minds.

Thank God that the National Guard here in VA is made up of a bunch OF "Good Ole Boys" that wouldn't be likely to carry out those orders.

The Dems are also threatening to withhold state funds from any localities that have declared themselves to be gun sanctuaries.

These hypocrites are the same ones that wailed against President Trump for threatening to take Federal Funds away from cities who refuse to enforce immigration laws.

Am I mistaken? Don't the folks who sign up for National Guard take an OATH to uphold the U.S. Constitution?

Apparently not.

Second Amendment issues aside, think of how many federal laws have been held unconstitutional since we became a republic.  Google says it's about 172 times.  (And each of the States has a constitution (which are mostly pretty similar to the US constitution), and the laws of all the state legislatures probably have a similar track record for being found unconstitutional.)  Of course, all those laws were signed off by the President or Governor of the state.

Congressmen are too stupid to be expected to always follow the constitution.

But if charged with violating their oath, that would be too embarrassing of a defense, so they would argue the constitution is hard to figure out and they had a good faith belief they were following it.

They can be arrested and forced out of office if they commit more common bad crimes.

When I interned for a MI state senator in 1974, the most senior senator then serving had had 5-7 DUIs, but they didn't fire him, he'd been around for 25 years and they liked him.  To his credit, he hadn't killed anyone (yet).

Back to the 2d Amendment, how hard is this to figure out?  ...the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Here in NY, land of the liberals! we will now have bail reform start on January 1st. Basically, you do whatever you like, steal, breaking and entering, assault, whatever, and receive an appearance ticket, with no jail or bail...............they want to let them all loose, but also eventually take away our guns. I predict that gun registrations and licenses will be on the rise again, especially upstate. As far as the city goes, it is literally impossible to get a permit to carry, impossible!!!!
