This has been the trend for quite sometime now.
Most of the female singers sound the same because the vocal coaches teach the open throat technique.
There's nothing wrong with it if used properly but unfortunately it isn't.
It sounds like they scream rather than sing, and because of that there's hardly any emotion, feeling, etc
It is even worse if the singer doesn't have an appealing timbre to begin with.
She's a perfect example of that, unfortunately.
I would do her though, but that's a completely different story.

You surely got me with this one!!! Imagine my surprise when I opened your post and link, fully expecting a nice little jaunt down memory lane, as I recalled those innocent evenings long ago with 'Ozzie' of Ozzie and Harriet... Now I KNOW I'm getting old!!!
