Guns are inherently dangerous and must be properly controlled.
There should be no private sales – only through properly licensed facilities with each individual seller receiving extensive specialized training and individual registration.
No minor should be allowed to purchase any gun.
Any one who thinks they need a gun must request permission and describe why they need such a dangerous item.
Permission can only be granted and authorized by a highly trained and licensed professional who specializes only in this type of evaluation. This professional will conduct a thorough investigation and interview of the prospective buyer and must complete a government mandated checklist certifying that this is the only product that will fulfill the prospective buyer’s need. The investigation must also determine if the prospective buyer has acquired the same or similar product by any other means.
If this professional ultimately decides that this inherently dangerous product is the only effective solution for potential user, they must also specify when and where and how frequently it may be used and when the buyer must come back and request a review and renewal of the permission.
The seller, even after receiving permission and restrictions from the licensed professional, may impose even further restrictions and must independently verify the potential user has not acquired the same or similar product elsewhere. The seller may also conduct interviews and add further restrictions but not lessen or relax the restrictions imposed by the licensed professional.
The buyer must show proper identification and certify they have complied with all the above.
By using these procedures, only then can we ensure that guns are as hard to acquires as opioid painkillers.
Oh wait……… Umm, never mind.
