I'm betting that it was a forced retirement.  Evil

LOL.  It's a bit misleading that the tortoise is the subject and not the object of the title.  I have a hard time imagining that he was the one making that decision.   Wink

Forced retirement at 130 rules ?

After reading the story I wondered if we knew him. 25 years or so back we flew to from Alaska to California with the kids on vacation. We did Disneyland, Vegas, and San Diego. While at the zoo my wife was just mesmerized by this one old tortoise. He wouldn't give up, he would climb up the back of the female turtle only to have her take a couple steps and shake him off. Me and the kids had to drag her away. I think she would have stayed there all day cheering the old guy on.

I noticed we have about the same number of wrinkles....that's where life's similarity ends however. Well...except for the speed at which we both move.  Grin

you think she might have been laughing because she was getting some ideas for when you get old and slow.
teasing you then taking a couple of steps out of reach.

Grin hell, she's been doing that for years.

The best part of that experience is the stories and ribbing ever since. The kids were only about 12 and 6 at the time. They tease her about it on a regular basis.
