My oldest granddaughter, age 30 or 31(can't keep track), last night just presented me with my fourth great grandchild, her second. Her younger sister had a little girl a few months back, now I have another reason to go visit in central Illinois. I haven't seen either one. My four daughters have given me seventeen grandchildren, and now four great grandchildren with another expected either January or February....I forget.
This particular granddaughter is a miracle in herself. She and her twin brother were in a car accident in 1987 that took the life of their father and a younger sister. Her twin brother was comotose for a few weeks, came out of it but has never been able to live alone since. She had to have complete facial reconstruction, horrible time in all our lives. My daughter eventually remarried and had three daughters with her second husband. Her story is also kind of a "love goes around" as well. In the summer following her jr. year in high school, she was a counselor at a church camp here in Florida, and as many kids are wont to do....she had a summer fling with a kid from college doing counselor work as part of his psychology major. After the summer was over, they finally quit staying in touch, my daughter ended up marrying another guy some time later. A couple years after he was lost in the accident, her next younger sister(my daughter #3) asked if she remembered a guy named(edited)....she was living in St. Louis at the time. Naturally she remembered him and started to go to the same church. Twelve years after their summer camp romance, their paths crossed again, a couple years after that they got married. Of the three girls with husband #2, only one remains at home. She has had a full life....as have her older kids.
This is a picture at age 45 minutes. My daughter said he has large hands and feet....like his Irish dad.
